The boyfriend of one of my best friends studied at that same school in Winnenden until last year, and they both live in the village where the bloddbath took place. Really crazy and sad...

People need to learn how to deal with their problems. They really should do more in high school to teach life skills.

the 17 year old guy that killed 16 people in his former school and a in nearby town yesterday was psychologically labile, and the gun which he shot with was his father's, so i rather think it's the parents fault for not notizing their son's mental slate, and for not keeping any weapons away from him...
anyways it's really sad, and dicussing who's fault it was doesn't bring the 16 decedents back alive.

Just heard this morning that the polizei confronted him at the school but desided to stay and treat the wounded instead of pursueing him. Bad choice as 4 more died after that. What I wonder is why this kids parents didn't have the gun secured? Also this kids had been in therapy for depression in a hospital and was suposed to continue it at home but his parents never continued with it.

What happened in Germany? I haven't heard about a shooting in Germany.

Do you think it has anything to do with the economy? I know the community where I live (Hour west of Atlanta, Georgia) has been really hit hard by the economy and the violence and robberies seem to have picked up drastically. There have been at least two on my street within the last two weeks and at least a dozen in the city. This is very rare.

Has Germany taken a bad beating financially?

Not necessarily. About a year or so ago another chap gunned down about the same number of kids at his former school in Germany and there was no recession then. The same happened apparently twice, albeit with fewer casualties, in Finland over the last 3-4 years. If there is anything in common, its pissed-off trigger-happy kids with too easy access to guns and grievances of some sort or another.

Very sad nevertheless.
