Its been elaborated on. From a typical user standpoint you will likely not notice much. However if you ever develop any web sites or client side javascript IE requires all sorts of tweaks and hacks in the code to get it to work properly because its not nearly as complaint and forgiving as the other browsers out there.

That being said, from a non-development point of view firefox with is extensions allow you to add all sorts of cool functionality to the browser that IE can only dream of attaining. Various tools for web development, exif data viewers for images displayed on a web page and the list goes on.


actually, being a developer myself, its quite the opposite. IE is infact more forgiving, and some would argue, too forgiving. that's actually why developers don't like it. a page will render just fine on IE, then break completely on firefox.

I certainly havent found that to be the case. Ive had many instances where incomplete code would cause something to not display at all in IE but FF would just display it. Other issues with varies bits of javascript that would display fine in FF an not be handled properly in IE at all and in turn the element wouldnt display. But each to their own.
