Wow.

I didnt think this thread would bring out so many hidden jewels... Eh...a lil too late for the hidden gems challenge? Would have helped the authors pick from their work's popularity here:-)

Thanks y'all... and lets keep it going...

Each of these hit me like a punch in the gut, so many more have done the same that offering so few feels like lying.

njsabs2323. Her photographs of people, especially her children, are something that I would love to be able to capture myself. I find myself going to her portfolio time and time again to get inspiration and look at the way she does things and write notes on how to apply some of that to my own work down the line.

Once these winter blues are out of my system, look out DPC!

Thank you so much. What a nice surprise to my morning. I appreciate your kind words!!

Agreed! And I'm seeing many old favorites that I had forgotten about as well.

How could you pick 5... I refuse hear me... So I picked 2 lots of 5 instead cause I've never been good with instructions or authority figures :) I tried not to list a few from above again and I could list a lot more then these 10.

very tough to narrow it down...

by goodman
one of my earliest favorites and even though i think my "style" has changed since then i still come back to this incredible shot every once in a while.

by charliebaker
this shot keeps reminding me that surrealism will always have a part in my photography, even if just very subtle.

i love bobsterlobster's concert photography, and this one in particular.

by joey lawrence
joey's travel portrait series inspired me to try these myself on my recent travels. It also helped reading his travel blogs and seeing him work to know how he approaches people.

by gaston
i could post a whole lot more of his work, just love the cinematic quality of his stuff.

by nixter
pretty much all of his stuff. incredible light, compositions and post processing.

by alonzo4b
inspiring nude work.

by Keith Maniac by toy by yanko by horatiuTT
really inspiring portrait work (i could add a handful more photos and photogs here)

by siggav
It's all about (e)motion!

i could add photographs of pawdrix, iraklis, ap, jpr, sevilduvarci, jdannels and many others that really inspire me for my street photography and way of seeing in general but i think you get the idea...;)

Very hard to pick just five... there is so much increadible talent on DPC... So five for the moment in no particular order:

by goodman
by LalliSig
by the99
by AP
by Mephisto

ok I lied.. had to pick five more....

by joey lawrence
by Coley
by MAK

Tough call...

grigrigirl

IMO, one of the sites few, true originals. A very brave shooter. I'd say 99% of what we see is derivative but I can't say I've seen much work like hers. She has a wide variety of some crazy ass shit.

sher

pmotta

Here are two shots that kinda show pmotta's influence on me. I took a lot away from that particular image.

yanko

e301

I've been on a neverending 4 year search for swooping e301 type of backdrops but haven't found the right one yet.

Well, I've been forced to the conclusion that, while I may be admired by many, I'm simply not *inspirational* at all :-) Not exactly an area one can work on however, as one's pretty much stuck with one's particularly prosaic approach to life...

Rofl. Poor bear.

I could hardly pick 50 let alone 5.

Bear's well up there. In fact, when talking to others about DPC, bear's name comes up in my conversation first more than 80% of the time. I talk about bear's pictures more than every other photog on here put together.

I will include his exceptional photo of the bookbinder, his own learning curve on HDR techniques, his fantastic ability to capture the tranquil, his deep knowledge of *so* many aspects of photography and his ability to both speak his mind against the grain and grasp a point out of a flurry of emotional posting. (He's disagreed with me in the past and I've disagreed with him in the past. And he's right most of the time ;)

Not to mention the inspirational side of the success of taking a disability and overcoming it so thoroughly that it is easy to simply never even have it come up into mind.

Oh and let's not forget those ***TREMENDOUSLY*** helpful class type discussions that he led on photographic fundamentals a while back. I still refer to stuff I learned in those - and I didn't even finish them.

I will say though that it's bear the person that inspires me, not one specific picture.
