| Does anyone make a duel hot shoe adaptor, so you can mount two flash units side by side but only firing one at a time so you can get two quick shots at full flash power. The reason I need something like this is for indoor rodeo photography where I get 8 seconds or less to get good action shots. |

| Not sure if they make those or not though I'm not sure flash is your best method for a rodeo shots. Probably a good low light lens and crank that ISO up as high as it goes, just a thought. |

| You would need something to alternate the firing trigger...... You could do 2 flashes at 1/2 power (e.t.c.) with a hotshoe that has 2 ports (see flashzebra). Probably better off with more power like a real strobe. I have never seen anything that would alternate the firing though..... interesting idea. Probably not hard to build if you know someone who can solder.... |

I have used the 50mm f1.8 ll prime lens at ISO 1600 with good results but with a lot of noise, which i fix with canon software.
I'm now using the 24-70mm f2.8L lens, I get good shots at 1600 and 1/250s, still get the noise and I have very dark photos I can still fix them with software (it's amazing what you can when shooting raw) but it takes a lot of time.
I have tryed using my flash at half power (speedlight 430ex) but it's still a little to slow on the recycle time. I will check into the quantum battery packs and flashzebra.

There are several different models, but I don't think they have one for every flash.
With a nice high powered flash, you can dial back on the power and get faster cycle times. I have an old Sunpak 622 Super Pro. Guide number of 200 at ASA 100, that puppy will reach out to 135 feet in auto with the zoom head. In manual, with a nice big lens and higher ASA you can light up the other end of a football field. They don't do all the magic through the lens metering stuff of the new flashes, but they will put out the light.
I have made battery rigs for smaller flashes using things commonly found at Home Depot and Radio Shack. However when you start rapid cycling smaller flashes on a continuing basis (shot after shot), the longevity suffers. The high voltage charging circuit in the strobe is often not designed to be cycled that fast or that often. The pro systems are designed for shot after shot.
