I'll keep an open mind and judge each photo on its own merit, including the nudes, which I plan to study carefully.

And I tend to give religious themed photos a 1. What's your point?

That there are plenty of "skin" options without resorting to either nudity OR religious themes. :)

Nudity is hardly "resorting", and is a perfectly viable option. My point in replying to you being that this need to remind people that you vote nudes low is neither necessary nor really relevant. It's certainly not going to stop anyone, and one person's vote is pretty negligible.

Exactly! But if it encourages one person to submit something tasteful instead of a nude, then it was worthwhile. If not, then those who approach the challenge with a good attitude and good photos will get good scores. Those who resort to nudity won't be hurt with my little old vote.

Or it could encourage 10 more people to submit nudes, or to vote them higher just to offset you. I suspect you really have no idea at all about how these types of posts are received.

It is these types of arguments about nudity and how hideous it is to the world that makes more and more people go to other sites where people are not as ridiculous in their beliefs of what is and what is acceptable in photography. I for one haven't bothered doing many nudes for this site because of this. How many others have been turned away for the same reasons. You have your beliefs and I have mine....but I try to overlook my beliefs when it comes to others styles and not let it sway my judgement over whether it is a good photo or not.

This is just one site amongst many out there...but the rings that many on this site put up for people to jump too are downright insane.

This could be solved quite simply by recognizing the nudity filter during voting. Then those of us who choose to have it on (and it's not just me) can enjoy the site as we see fit and those of you who don't use it can also enjoy the site.

It's all about options.

Since I'm forced to view the photos in voting, I vote accordingly. If I didn't have to see them, then I wouldn't hunt them out to vote them down.

Why even vote in this challenge? Nobody is forced to vote in any challenge.

It's not a "Nude" challenge. If it were, then I could avoid voting in it. It's a general skin challenge which does not require nudity. Pretty obvious.

Skin implies nudity. Your right, it does not require nudity, but there is a high possibility that nudity will be viewed when voting. Why not just avoid it in the first place?

Just as a flowers challenge doesn't require waterdroplets or portraits don't require animal photos or nudity challenges don't require clothes....every challenge can be and will be interpreted differently by everyone...one day you may accept that...until then...I feel sorry for you....to HAVE to HUNT down the nudity just so you can vote it low as you put it. How sad!

I started this thread out of levity and a sense of fun.

Let us ignore the lone wanderer and return there.

Seriously, it would seem to me that if you have a serious enough problem with nudity in photographs that you vote them all a one, it would seem that you wouldn't want to deliberately set out to view such things.

Voting on a challenge where there will obviously be nudity, just so you can give a one to them almost sounds like you are trying to justify viewing the challenge in the first place. Not saying that is what you are doing, but that is how it comes across -- It's almost like -- "I do not approve of nudity in photography, therefore I will view a bunch of pictures (because, honestly, I want to see them), but I will give them a one because they shouldn't be there, and by giving them a one, I can give myself a justifiable excuse to look."

Judi, you always seemed smarter than this. To resort to insults when you have no argument is what is sad.

If you read what I wrote, you saw that I clearly stated I would NOT hunt down nudes to vote them down. As it stands now, the site FORCES us to view them when we have the "No Nudes" flag turned on. No hunting required.

No censorship here... everyone is totally free to interpret the challenge however they see fit.

We are also free to vote as we see fit.

Common sense.

You don't have to hunt them out, and you don't have to vote on them at all. You CHOOSE to do both. And you also choose to post proudly about it whenever possible, and blame the site for not changing to suit you.

You misunderstand completely.

I should be free to vote in any challenge. However, if the challenge were defined as "NUDES IV, NUDES V, etc..." then I would avoid it, because the challenge is to submit a nude. Duh.

But when nudes are submitted in a normal challenge, it's like a comedian that has to use profanity to be funny. And again, since the site forces us to see them then I have to vote on them. If the site would correctly implement the filter they offer then this would be a non-issue.

My apologies...you did say that. I am very tired, so I must have read it wrong. I totally agree about the censorship flag...but unfortunately that is not within the sites options...therefore you need to adjust accordingly...and voting down an image just because you don't like a subject is not voting fairly. A photo should be judged on its criteria of meeting the challenge and its technicals...not whether someone has chosen to think oustide the box or be creative. Skin is an obvious choice for nudity....and can be handled very maturely and creatively...why punish someone for doing that?

I guess you cannot read English.

If I did not have to see them (as in FORCED by the site)

Then I wouldn't hunt them down (I would not go looking for them)

See, pretty darn plain when you don't arbitrarily throw a second "have" in there.

Egads.
