I am getting ready to do group photography for a dance studio and need a suggestion of a great wide angle lens. I really can't afford the L series yet so I'll have to go with cheeper glass. If anyone has suggestions I thank you very much in advance. The most people in one set will be 30. The least ammount will be 5. |

For crop sensor cameras like your rebel, the EF-S 10-22 is great. The glass is L/near L quality. And it can be had for around $700. I have it, and love it.
Edit for grammar.

...Yeah, apparently Canon did not want to put the "L" designation on this lense because it is an EF-S lens, and incompatible wtih Canon's pro line-up of cameras. |

depends on your budget I've shot with the 10-22 and the 17-55IS and the 17-55IS is a much sharper lens by a long way. The 10-22 is good but the 17-55 is much better |

Thanks for the suggestions!! I was able to the the 17-55 and the session is next week. It got here yesterday so now I have to kick butt to make sure I can use it correctly. God this is nerve wrecking and exciting at the same time. |

Good decision. The Canon 17-55mm is a great lens. How much did you buy it? Anyway, good luck on your shoot. Don't forget to share your shots here. :)
Cheers!
