So I have to use my old Nikon manual 35mm film camera for a project and I haven't used it in over a year. Anyways when i set the shutter speed to anything on the dial and take a photo, the shutter remains closed but appears to open after i set it to Bulb or M90. I remember I had this problem last year and I can't remember how to fix it. Anyone else have this problem before or can remember something like this ever happening to them?

Hmmm. Could be a lube problem maybe. Try cycling the shutter a buncha times in bulb setting to see if it loosens things up.

The battery may be dead if it has one. Does the meter work?
If it is a manual film advance camera that resets the shutter when you advance the film, then the shutter's second curtain timing may be electronic if it is one of the later models.

I had a problem like this once. Eventually my camera's shutter stopped working completely. if you cant get it to work you should take it to a professional cleaner or something.

At this time, it may be quicker and less expensive to just buy another one that is functional on line. I hope that it just needs a battery or to be worked some in bulb or 1/90 mode until it loosens up.
