In honor of this week's challenge underway, show us your brown ribbon portfolio.

NOTE: Though some of these photos look identical, they all are separate photos, entered into separate DPC challenges, and all scored 0%, last place, "Brown".

I regret to inform that I have never quite managed a brown; I've finished at next-to-last, but GeneralE is always edging me out for the brown -(

I've come sooooo close a number of times, but only managed it once:

Even though it was dead last, I totally cleaned up on the fun comments. I consider this shot to have been a success, especially because Posthumous said he was pissed that I stole the brown from him. (One of my favorite comments!)

Almost 7 years ago. . . .

I came *really, really, really* close in the "Beginning" challenge.

Where's Whiterook? He can blow Charliebaker out of the water. He's the Chuck Norris of brown ribbons. 42 browns by my count, and at least two next-to-last.

Penultimate loser twice: one this year and one two years ago. And these are not the entries I regret.

Yeah, well cry me a river ... ;-)

I was 11 pages into the challenge list before I found this final "Taupe Ribbon" (next-to-last) , and I was still finding numerous contenders for "Ecru" (second-to-last) around page 15 ... here are the rest of the near-misses -- you'll have to scroll down to revel in the actual Browns ...

I think this is my favorite Brown -- favorited by some others as well ... :-)
... and the rest of the platoon ...

Indeed, whiterookis the true Brown Ribbon Master on DPC with an amazing 40 Brown Ribbons to his name (I may have miscounted by a few and Bearmusic likely has the true count at 42). Whiterook's Brown collection includes three Brown Ribbons that have placed lower than last. I'm not sure about this, but his "Chess Timing" may be the only photo entry in DPC history to ever score in the negative percentile, with -1%, that is 211 out of 209. Below, I've posted all forty of his Brown Ribbon winners. I have not included six others which scored 0%, but did not place last.

You will notice that whiterook features prominently in this current challenge with at least 10 entries seeking to improve upon the master's work. Rotsaruck on trying to improve on Stephen's genius! Our brown hats are off the the Master of the Brown, Mr. Whiterook.

This one of mine also garnered a -1% ranking, though not by quite as much: 147/146 ...

I think it actually might happen quite often, when a photo is DQ'd after the results have been calculated -- some glitch in the database reporting the number of entries ...

looking at these last place "winners" ... most of them are still MUCH better than some photos i've seen taken by fiends and family... and they are much better that some photos i've seen in "hardcopy" photo contests and even on some other photo-focused websights.

so take heart... your brown ribbon may equal others' blue ! ;-)

Hey, quick. Somebody make some Ecru & Taupe Ribbons! I've got me a Ecru winner!

P.S. LOVE this thread. Some real winners in here, and I don't mean tailfeathers types.

I'm hoping for brown but I would settle for Ecru or Taupe in the current Low Key challenge.
Current score 3.8000
