These are all the "brown ribbon" image winners since the last Deja Vu challenge. It's not as thorough as what socalsteve put together, but it should at least allow for ease of browsing. The images should be in reading order from newest to oldest. Click on any of them to see the challenge and placement details.

Disclaimer:

Verify brown status! I did my best, but this was a manual effort and a tedious one. Likely errors are mistyping an image ID (especially in the newer ones) and inadvertently pulling in a DQ. I may also have accidentally skipped a challenge. Please PM me with any errors or omissions, or just post them here. I'll make the edit.

For earlier browns, see Steve's PDF. I tried to pick up where he left off.

The things I do for you people...

Thanks. I've already been inspired by one of them today. Need to go buy some props tommorrow.

I double dare anyone to try and duplicate my brownie!

Great. Thanks. I sure hope that the Accidental Letter Brown is left as is...no need to improve that bad boy!

I've always gotten a laugh out of your shoehorn entries so I actually picked up a shoehorn a while back in anticipation of using it in a challenge some day, just not this one. I couldn't improve on that one - it's perfect! Maybe someday Langdon will have a shoehorn challenge. :-)

Thanks bvy for the brown ribbon winners - it made it so much easier to look at the entries. There are a couple of them that I might try. Thanks again!

You're welcome! My initial motives were selfish ones, but no need not to share.

And it was a fun adventure -- interesting stuff lurks down in the land of browns and DQ's...

You ROCK!

Holy cow... I started working on a similar post and gave up quickly. Thanks so much for sharing your work, that's very generous!

I presume one must pick the last image in any particular challenge but not the DQ'd shots. In other words the last shot just before you get to the DQ'd shots.
Or is the last shot to pick then the last DQ'd shot.

The last place shot that was a valid entry is the brown ribbon. DQ's do not count, especially since some of them were high scoring entries before they got DQ'd.

Thanks Steve. I should have the rules as i now see it actually says as much. Can you tell me if one must use the same title that the brown has?

You deserve a medal for doing that, thank you!

Should the title of my shot be the same as the title of the brown which I picked?

Ps. Amazing to see how some of the photographers of the old browns from way back have improved over the years and how some have even gone on to win ribbons.

Not a requirement. My own idea will not have the exact same title because my "improvement" (I use the term loosely) will change the title it gets. Not exactly a duplicate, but more like "inspired by". I'll try to maintain a somewhat similar title if I can. I may get the brown ribbon in the brown ribbon challenge. Unless CharlieBaker enters this one. He can cough up browns at will. The lenscap king.

It's almost lunchtime for me. Time to run out and do some prop-shopping.

What I put for my title was the exact name of the challenge it was in so people can find it pretty easy in the Photos Search section.

Cool...of course even easier is to link to the original as suggested in the rules for this challenge.
By the way...check this BROWN I found from quite some time ago. One could have some fun with this one.

That works fine once the challenge is over, and I intend to do that.

Right. That wont work for voters until the challenge is over. I want to put the challenge name so they can reference that challenge and the brown while voting. I have the link to the brown in my details.

Good thinking there ;) I had forgotten that placing a link can only be seen after the challenge is over and not during the voting.

Coughing up hairballs more likely if you enjoy pet brown ribbons such as these to cat entries.
Kitty Nose with Appel, by CharlieBaker

angry kitty ready for a scratch your eyes, by jacko

Let's see what we all can cough up this time!

So how does this Brown Ribbon challenge work? Does one carry the theme of the brown ribbon forward and re-shoot it? How much flexibility does a person have? What am I missing? Thanks for your explanations.
