Joe, I am glad you are ok with it. It will help the rest of the teams to stay interested since the "medal hogs" will likely run away with it.

Oh yeah I'm completely cool with it, I'm all for having two sets of scores. Anyway we can automate it or make it easier for the both of us?

In the end, I want to compete against the best competition possible. I welcome Judi and her team. It'll make any victiories that much sweeter. I aslo look forward to seeing entries from many members who've not entered in a while and have inspired my growth as a photographer on this site.

I fail to see how creating a team that has a combined 160 ribbons will do anything to promote harmony at DPC. This is the exact thing that makes people lose interest in these side challenges, which completely undermines the goodwill and effort that people like DirtDiver put into them.

I intend to do my best to help Team Canada III succeed anyways, but this has certainly taken away a lot of the excitement and anticipation I had originally.

I got a great idea! Lets force teams to be weighted and only allow a certain number of ribbon winners on each team instead of letting people sign up with who they want to. Lets make everthing absolutely politically correct and not move forward until absolutely everyone is satisfied with the teams. That will make it REALLY FUN!![/sarcasm]

Sheesh, if it really is just a side challenge and all for fun you shouldn't care less where you end up.

Lets just see what happens this time around. If they dominate the entire season I won't allow stacked teams next season. From what I understand, Judi is saying that although the team has a list of super stars there is no purpose for them to enter each challenge and swing for the stars each time. For a obvious ribbon winner to be on a team and ALWAYS have to enter each challenge and score high on that challenge is tiring and not fun. They are caring the entire team on their shoulders and the team expects them to win a ribbon each time.

On Judi's team they don't need to carry anyone because they are all ribbon winners anyway.

I can see both sides of the argument but like I said lets see how things go.

After all wasn't it God that told the Satan "If you think you can rule man kind better than me, go ahead and try"?
Lets let Judi try her team and if it fails then I won't allow it next season.

And No Judi I don't think your Satan although I'm sure you have a cute little outfit that your husband LOVES.... :)

If that was the case there would be no point to having any kind of "challenge" would there? A challenge by definition involves competition.

Right. so when they play together they do not need to be concerned about carrying the "common folk" to victory. I feel so much better now, knowing that I will not be a burden to anyone.

you called it a side challenge, if you want to be competetive thats fine but side challenges by there very nature are not competetive. it just sounds to me like you are alot more interested in having a chance to win more so than building any harmony and good will

Winning is certainly not everything, and is not even the main reason for wanting to participate. That being said, it is much more interesting when you at least stand a chance of being competative. Harmony and goodwill come from friendly, goodnatured jousting. It does not come from creating a team of superstars.

Did someone pee on your cornflakes this morning smardaz?

You mean like how your post promotes harmony? Maybe you fail to see because you don't bother to open your eyes to read? I wouldn't even bother responding had you not basically call Judi a liar. She made it clear what the purpose was. If you don't believe it, too bad.

His post no less promotes "harmony" than a stacked team does, that much is clear.

While this is yes a "side challenge", it's more a good natured "side competition". But it's like the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox joining a church softball league. Pretty much kills the enthusiasm of the normal folks.

I AM NOT saying it's wrong of Judi to do this, by any stretch of the imagination. I believe her intentions were pure. However the net result is still a stacked team. So let's be adults and not pretend that it's something that it's not. It is what it is and it's perfectly legit. But the cause will have its effect.

Yes lets be adults so quite assuming things, ok? Why don't you ask the Islander team I played for last year, if I "stacked" their team. Hell, you should know. You have the stats. I only accepted to join the team because of the reasons Judi posted. I had no idea who else was on the team nor do I care. I doubt very much you'll see a lot of participation from several of the members anyway. Maybe you should take a step back because you seem to be blinded by all the numbers.

I just want to be absolutely clear that I (part of the Aussie team) have no hard feelings about the Olympians team. I coined the term 'Yesterday's Heroes' in the Aussie team thread, but it was only tongue in cheek. I know you guys are gonna whip our buts, but we're gonna have a hell of a time trying to stay at your heels!

I think it'll be particularly great to see a bit more of Manny's work around here.

Let's all stay in the fun (and just slightly competitive) spirit of DPC and wish the Olympians the very best...while trying to beat them into yesterday!

Edited for spelling

I do believe there are still places...go to the sign in page and click on roster...you will see the gaps. Each team has 8 places.

Something I would love to see this time around is having mixed editing challenges instead of 'Basic' every single week. Let's say there are 9 weeks:

Week 1 - Minimal
Week 2 - Basic
Week 3 - Advanced
Week 4 - Minimal
Week 5 - Basic
and so on and so on... This would be a great way to even the playing field across the board and help soothe the naysayers a bit.

How about it Langdon?

I don't think the point of these side challenges is to interfere with the normal course of DPC.
