so i shot a few pictures of my ride yesterday after working on it for awhile. i guess im kinda an enthusiast. but im really into classic cars. i realized this morning i havent seen a car thread on here. so... any other buffs out there that like to build their own rides? im working on restoring a 1974 chevy nova with my dad. and so far so good. pretty much standard small block chevy in it. we are about to cut a hole in the floor and put a muncie 4 speed in. so excited for that. what does every one else got out there?

I would like to restore an old hotrod some day, or I know a guy who has a 1960 Caddy Limo that was once owned by the Wrigley Company hopefully one day he will part with it, Only needs some cosmetic work on the interior outter body is solid.

As for your project, Wow! Its been awhile since Ive seen an old Nova Dogtracking down the road, the Olds Omega was basically the same body style and they dogtracked even worse than the Novas. A friend of mine had an Omega always looked like it was going down the road sideways. lol

I love the old American Muscle cars, but being in the UK, they are not too common!
My little toy is below. Small and light - Rides like a go cart! There is not a nut/bolt that I have not taken off this car. I know it inside out!

' . substr('//farm4.static.flickr.com/3277/2793915810_35b618f943_m.jpg', strrpos('//farm4.static.flickr.com/3277/2793915810_35b618f943_m.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

Off the road at the moment though as can't afford to run this along side my every day car and my wifes run about!
Needs a bit of TLC too as 25+ years on the british roads (salt in the winter) is not good for the bodywork!

i know how the bodywork goes. i only had one small spot of rust. about my thumbnail. we already took care of that and re did the body work. id like to have a little car like that. muscle cars may be fast but they dont exactly turn so hot. how quick is the vw? any turbos or anything?

No turbo. Engine is pretty much a stock 1.8L Fuel Injection (Early Mechanical Bosch set-up). Has a sports filter and Sports exhaust Manifold (Header). The car is quite low on a stiff set of height adjustable Coilovers, coupled with smaller than normal profile tyres and one of the shorter ratio gearboxes, it maxes out at about 105MPH, but it goes through the gears quite quickly. Real fun on small roads as it handles real well - Only weighs around 750 Kg as it is fully stripped inseide. No heaters, no dashboard etc...

I have run it down a 1/4 mile strip once and got a 16.5 sec quarter (My first and only time!), so as you can see, it ain't no "ten second car"!

yeah with a light car like that it definitely doesnt take much to be quick though. and 16.5 really isnt too bad. i wish my car was a little lighter. weighs about 1600 kg and is an all steel body. so its pretty much a tank haha. last time i ran a 1/4 mile in the summer i ran a 13.5. maybe someday when i can afford it, it will be a ten second car. i know there are more people on here with rides. who has something sweet?

I just love old muscle cars but dont have the space to buy one or work/restore one just. I guess when I get a house and have a garage I will buy a old muscle car then.

But this is my ride and project I brought it last May and just love it, wanted one since 2000 when it first launched. So far I have just ordered some rims and a new custom grill.... I have also replaced the air filter with an cold intake air filter. I have more plans for the engine in the future, but not going to mess with the exterior much more other than just what I mentioned above. I plan to keep it for a long time because chrysler has dropped this from their line and is not making it anymore.

I have always been a car buff and just love them, and I cant wait to get an old muscle car to rebuild and restore some day. But again I just love my cruiser its so fun to drive, roomy and comfortable.

i drove a 5 speed cruiser one time and it was a really fun car to drive. handles great. i was expecting a lot more body roll on sharp corners but it pulls out of corners awesome. is it the v6 or i4?

NICE! the pull of a turbo feels about as good as the pull of a old school v8 like mine. cruisers get looked over a lot and i dont understand why, cause they are really great cars

Yes they are nice and they do get overlooked alot, too bad chrylser let this car go, they could have done alot more with it......It needed an update maybe a new engine or a hybrid model....I think with a hybrid model it would have sold a bunch more

Sweet ride yes but other than elbow grease whilst detailing and spending a few quid on mods I've not touched her so sadly she shouldn't be in this thread but what the heck!
