Well, I have commented on them all. Now if I can just dig up those bearpaw ribbons someone made for me last year, which I have yet to start implementing, this will be a great place to award the first set :-)

Yes--I will finish commenting on the rest, and then do some awarding, too. I'm assuming we post awards in this thread, and then on the individual images after they have been posted back in their respective photographers porfolios? (Or is the plan to post them in jdannels location for each one?)

I would just post them to this thread, and then leave it to the photographer to put it on their image once they post it to their own portfolio.

I've commented on all. In the interest of protecting the reputation of the photographers, I've decided to create ephemeral ribbons that will disappear at the completion of the commenting period.

However, I would like to be able to provide these magical ribbons before I know who the recipients are - Before jdannels links names and photos.

Timing wise, when should I make the grand fleeting pronouncement?

grand fleeting announcements can be made at any time between now and the 7th.

Can anyone help me find those nice BearPaw awards? Sigh... I can't remember who made 'em. It's TIME!

grand non-fleeting announcements on or after the 7th? You should go first, sir, in my opinion, as this is really your baby :-)

I could start a new thread for ribbons, that would also give a way for people to post their images and it wouldn't be so cluttered. Any interest in this?

I would have the first post with all the entries and then keep the next couple of posts for myself. As people upload their entries they could post them to the thread and I would add their image to the second post and get rid of the image in my porfolio. The third post would be a list of whose image is whose. 4th post I could place all of the awards. Just a thought. It may sound confusing but it isn't really.

I just want to make sure people award their ribbons before they know whose photo is who's.

I will not release the list until all awards are given.
I will leave some posts empty and fill them in later

Yes--the anonymity is key. So we can use the thumb reference numbers from jdannels posting of the images, to show the awarded images in this, or a newly created, thread? Then sort it out after the images are present in the photographers' porfolios?

Don i sent you a a PM with a possible plan of attack, let me know. Chromey, I think you might be able to use the thumbs from my portfolio if Don likes my idea. It is possibly too confusing. :)

Okay, I'll go first: In no particular order, my 6 finalists are:

I'll post the 3 winners of the first BearPaw Awards as soon as someone finds my paws :-)

Thanks to Salmiakki for finding my paws!

And now the moment you've all been waiting for:

The Bronze Paw goes to the following 4 finalists:

Runnerup, and the Silver Paw, goes to :

And the very first winner of the Golden Paw is:

These are all wonderful, worthy images, but in the end it's hard to argue with virtual perfection. Since I'm an old-school, zone system photographer, the Golden Paw winner really strikes a chord with me.

Thanks to Posthumous for making all this possible, it's been a blast!

PostLuminous Winner:

(guess I am "old school" too :-)

ETA: somehow I just missed "Harmony" when I cut and pasted the thumb id's from my text file--so I am putting it here oh so late. I blame the cold medication, and not my age or general incompetence. That is my story and I am stickin to it.

Ok, I just got depressed looking at the home page and only seeing challenges with roman numerals in them. So when is the next Posthumous Open scheduled? :) Btw, has anybody asked Langdon if a dummy account can be created to host future entries?

Wow, we agree on 3 of your 4 nominees, and on the winner! Consensus is building... Can the winner make a clean sweep of all the awarders? Film at 11...
