It's time to realize that you know nothing about this world. All you do is point a piece of glass at it. If your photograph has no mystery, then it has no heart, it has no honesty about the world we live in. It's time to reserve your highest scores for images you've never seen before, rather than images that are comfortably familiar. pointandshoot is the god of the underground. We have been quietly building shrines to him all over this site, just waiting for the right moment to rise up through the surface and fill the front pages with darkness. Join our irresistible tentacles. We are legion.

Great speech! Great moody photos as well. I can see why you have an appreciation of his work.

What?! You want everyone to be like him. I QUIT PHOTOGRAPHY.

OK, honestly, that stuff is pretty cool. But don't you know that every being, organization or club suppresses it's inner demons? ;)

Ha, ha! AMEN!

Heck of a manifesto, albeit a doomed one :-) If we all thought like Steve, the world as we know it would grind to a halt. Anarchy would triumph, the fabric of society would disintegrate, nothing would be the same, ever again, never again, never, never...

That's a good thing, right?

pointandshoot has been my favorite DPCer for a long time. Anybody who can find this on ebay has my vote every time.

Unfortunately though, try as I might, his artistic direction is closed to me....I will never think of photoshopping a broom onto the top of my goat's head.

This is a good direction. He has some intriguing stuff. I like this one:

Why do I get the feeling these threads will need their own forum eventually?

I thought KarenNfld already had this sort of thing covered ;)

By the way, I nominate my own damn self for the new direction of DPC. It's as good as any.

Only until he becomes popular, and a pointandshoot trend emerges. Then he's finished. Direction is the death of art! (with apologies to Truman Capote).

For reference, see "Lawrence, Joey"...

Wow, thanks Don. I don't want to sound unappreciative or anything, but... does this particular lower-case deity designation come with any perks? I realize, of course, that any discussion of sacrificial virgins (however virtual) may be presumptuous.

I wish DPC allowed me to sort challenge results by most favorites received. That way I can find Steve's work much faster right after the challenge is over. The perennial ribbon winners could learn a lot from Steve.

Well, they could, but will they?

Read the OP first thing this morning, made my day.

popularity is the extremely rare fatal disease that undergrounders secretly dream of catching.

Popularity doesn't have to be fatal. It is, however, extremely rare.

That was probably a great article but I had to ignore it. :P
