I titled my picture incorrectly and no one sees the bee! It was supposed to be Bee My Shadow, but at the last minute I renamed it wrong address meaning the bee thought the honecombed reflector on the telephone pole was his bee hive but no one got it. One person left a comment that it took them 4 tries to get the picture and see the bee. Please take another look. I tried to email the admin to get the title changed but they are probably so busy they didnt have time. Im very urinated off at myself for not sticking to my original instincts.

Mags, I left that comment. You lost your annonimity (sp). We try to avoid that here, at least until after the voting. I am glad that you have learned something about titles. Plus, titles by site rules are NOT supposed to "carry the shot". I think I had suggested re-cropping to more strongly emphasize your subject.
He, he, I learned about the title thing a couple weeks ago. My current pic would be getting all 1's, if it weren't for my title.
Yea for the underdog!

Swash, your comments were superbly helpful and inspired me to goto the message boards which I was reluctant to try. I also love the way you vote, it not only gives some insite to how real photographers think but also the critique from 3 areas lets you focus on your less skilled areas. Thank you. Sorry for not staying anonymous.

PS I tried the crop first but too pixelated.

Please (blush), I may take lots and lots of snapshots, but I, too am here as a learner. Attempting to upgrade from Snapshot taker to Photo Artist. I got a long, long road ahead of me still. As for my voting style, I don't advise adopting it. My comments "give me" away, but so be it. I am never certain whether the extra "flack" is in good humor or actually picking on my style, but I don't care that much. If I can help, wonderful!!! Keep shooting, floppy disks are CHEAP! By shear volume, you are bound to get find your style and great results. My best hint, whenever possible, take your photos in as many different camera settings as you have patience for.
Keep shooting!

Swash, not if a bunch of DP'ers adopt your method!

...Thank you everyone who takes a 2nd look (and photographers who take the time to vote for all the submissions).

Mags you may be underestimating some of us. I 'got' the original title and the bee and had a pleasant laugh. You must have a sharp eye and lots of patients. aelith

Can you message me and let me know which picture is yours. I've looked at through the list of pictures and I don't see anything called 'Be My Shadow'

aelith, I apologize, I dont mean to assume that but there are so many good pictures to evaluate. Plus you shouldve been there, I must have ducked and evaded at least a dozen times during the capture. I cant stand that buzz noise when it gets near my ear. I think the mosquito ear fly-by is even worse because I know its out for blood.

OK, after reading and then going back and looking again I get it!!! We were talking earlier about the importance of titles, good example. My title this week is exactly what my photo is, and some folks still didnt get it.

LOL that makes me shudder just to read about it. Getting a good crop of the subject is actually more your problem than the title. But it's one of those pictures (and I've had too many of them of late) where if you get close to your subject you loose your story. Frustrating for sure. Beth
