My first attempt

Original Edit

This turned out to be a lot of fun. I hope you do not mind if I participate occasionally. Seems I have many photos that could be improved.

While trying to choose pics for this side challenge, and looking over my shots from a couple of years ago, I can see a huge difference in how I am approaching a subject. I used to just be looking for interesting shapes and reasonable composition when I could obtain it. Now, I am looking at the light probably more than the subject itself. I have a lot of photos of interesting subjects, but if they don't have a good play of light and shadow on them, it's really hard for me to bring something out of a flat shot.

I know what you mean! My perspective has changed as well. I do find shots I didn't get around to, but I can see things I'd like to change in the way I shot them to begin with. Still, I find that I know a bit more now about how to process something, and that helps!

By the way, Steve, I went back and added a shot of the bridge in my original post.

That crop really "made" your shot, Deb.

I am looking at story-telling in my little series. Kind of locked myself in to finding goodies on the one horse family, which in a way makes it harder. I definitely shoot way better now, and of course pp too. Got better at "seeing" the light. Here's my week 6 entry, hoping to be able to keep up all year.

Week 6 Entry

This is Chedoke Falls in Hamilton ON. My friend jeger and I often go out to waterfalls in Southern Ontario. This one is in the middle of a city, but difficult to get to. We had to hike along cliffsides for close to half an hour to reach the spot. It was worth it though.

Here is the original:

This week I wanted to revisit one of my first challenge entries on DPC from June 2007. Here is the original:

And this is the re-edit of that photo that I finished tonight:

The PP included Curves, levels, saturation boost, and some cloning out of stray light. Hope you like.

I've been so busy with work, I haven't had time to take pictures OR edit :( Not to mention get to commenting. :(

But I just took a break to do a quick one. I like this capture of my dog from our summer vacation; I did some minor edits, but I can't for the life of me come up with a crop that works as well where he's not centered. What do you think? Feel free to have a go at it. I loaded a bit bigger shots if you want to play.

Another shot from My trip to california a couple of years back. Shot with a Coolpix L6. I may have overprocessed this a bit in trying to bring out the oomph in it..

PGerst - Week 5 Finals

Apologies...I'm quite behind. I was busy playing in the orchestra for our town's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It takes a bit out of all of us involved with the show. I took me a while to get back into the regular swing of things....this included. Anyway, I'll be catching up on comments shortly.

I had a hard time deciding what I liked as the week 5 original offered interesting possibilities. I know we're supposed to submit one, but I couldn't resist.

Catching up...Ken gave me the idea to go back to 2006 when we had a GTG in Dunes State Park...

Not sure I actually got any keepers that day, but I have two candidates. Here's the first one, for week 5:

Let me know...keeper or digital waste (or what you would do differently)?
