Do you think there will be one this time around?

When did the one last year become available?

I don't even see the regular FS... Something wicked this way comes ;)

D&L = Drunk and/or Hungover.

Let them sleep it off.

Besides recovering from the holiday, we are still discussing a few details ... given the time frame for the entries, there's no particular hurry to run it -- we didn't run the "Best of 2002" until 2006.

Personally, I was just thinking of suggesting that we lull everyone into a period of temporary complacency, and then spring it as a Speed Challenge ... ;-)

WTF is the delay on that, anyway?

I hope they do this soon. I saved a cool entry from the freestudy, because I wanted to enter it in this instead.

That would be so cruel! ;-)

The details on these will be released as soon as the next DPL season is unveiled.

While y'all are convened... how about a rewrite on that little rule problem we briefly discussed? *grin* Rewriting now will perhaps save a lot of trouble later on...

[seriously]
Here's a detail worth discussing ... 800 pixels and 250K file size. C'mon ... time to go for it.
[/seriously]

[humorously]
... or will y'all gopher it again?

No FS, no BO 2008, is the site closing?

I'm just scratching my head wondering what details need to be worked out for the Best of 2008. The January Free Study doesn't need to actually be put up for 3 weeks. It's not like it starts tomorrow ;)

Maybe the best of 2008 will have 800 pixel max dimensions. :)

ETA: oops, should have read better, Dr.Confuser said the same thing. :P

That would suck. I already have my entry chosen, and 800 pixels wouldn't help it any. lol

Langdon's mind in mysterious ways, what with the honeymoon, Xmas, New Year...he is out of it at the moment, but suddenly he will kick into gear and we will have so much to work with that DPC will be smokin' !!

I see you there is a best of 2008 Challenge. To bad is not open to non-members. Sometimes the fun challenges need to be open to us old non-members (FYI- I was paid member for 5+ years). Oh well maybe someone will buy me a membership so I can enter. wink place here! Rant, rant, Rant.... :)

One less cup of coffee a week and you can be a paid member!

HA! I got Lucky No 7.

I was #5 or 6. Can't remember exactly. Been waiting impatiently!

Question.... everything I might consider for Best of 2008 is probably already in my portfolio, or has been at one time. Do I bother? I could go back and re-edit, see if I have a sleeper somewhere (quite sure I do not) but essentially I've got nothing "saved" as Best of 2008. So... skip the challenge?

No way! You skipped the Master's challenge already. Find which one you like the best and enter it. :)

No, Melethia, you may not skip the challenge. There is at least one dormant pigeon hiding somewhere in the archives.
01/09/2009 03:26:02 AM · #25
LOL! I do have a pigeon shot or two - just not sure the voting public wishes to be burdened with such.

I asked the question not just for me - I know there are probably others out there who have stuff that's already been in their portfolios or seen in a side challenge, etc, who may have the same reservations. I do know that every year there are shots I know I've seen before, but I don't always remember from whom. I, in fact, like seeing some of those shots again in a challenge environment, but I realize there are those who do not.
