I think there would be more people voting if this was available thru cell phones. I can browse the site perfectly on my iphone but i can not vote. A lot of times while on the phone waiting in line for something, or just at a place where a computer is not accessible one could be voting and leaving comments instead of just waiting to get the chance of being in front of a computer.

i also think we should be allowed to vote with our phones. My nokia e90's displays 16.7 million colors. In fact im really bored at work right now and i could be voting!!!

Voting via thumbnails

Langdon specifically disabled this back in September 2008, so people would base their votes on full size images. :)

I agree with the SC here.
While the images are nice and clear and not too tiny even on my iPhone, I don't think they're big enough to properly evaluate images well enough for voting and commenting.
I'm also guessing that voting on mobile phones with a numeric-only keyboard also result in fewer and shorter (i.e. "nice") comments.

I think voting with phones would cause more problems. Friend Voting etc would be very hard for DPC to police.

You have to log in to vote, and the vote is tied to your account no matter what browser you use. :)

So what would prevent people from starting a second or even third account and only using the phone to troll vote or pump up your own score. How would you keep track of it how would you be able to figure out that someone is voting twice for their own image? I still think it would cause more trouble.

We have procedures in place to both detect and prevent that.

How effective would you really think that would be even if you could get a half dozen accounts up and running?

If those were all 10 votes on top of a 5.7, you really think that'd be enough to take a ribbon in the average challenge?

Who on earth would go to so much trouble for a virtual ribbon that fades into history in a week?

And what a hollow victory that would be!

I am not sure how you would be able to do that? If I went to a friends house and created a new account on his computer and for the sake of being clever I give him 25 dollars cash and use his paypal account to purchase my membership, how would you trace it back to my cell phone? I know that seems a bit out of the way, However Ive seen people here spend 100 dollars on props for a single challenge entry so it doesnt seem to far out of the box.

Not sure about the 10s but if I went and gave everyone else 3s and 4s you cant tell me it wouldnt stir the pot. There are enough flaws in the voting system as it stands, no sense making it even worse.

You need full size images for voting. Now if a cell phone had a 17" screen then maybe it would be ok.

If a cell phone had a 17" screen, wouldn't that be a tablet? ;)
