Thanks.

(( hands Cynthia a bowl for the drool )) lol

LOL, thanks, it was getting out of hand for a minute.

Apparently not........because then you have to spend crazy amounts to buy decent telephotos and wide angles, so they continue to punish you.

Nothing wrong with switching to Nikon, lots of people have... Now you will have it out of your system and when you switch back you will never never never want to do that again. Just like the others won't.

;D

Was it the Ashton Kutcher D90 tv commercial that convinced you to switch?
12/18/2008 12:38:11 AM · #33
Both companies make an oustanding product. Nikon was my first camera system. I can afford either but Canon's Customer service is excellent, Nikon's not so much.

Dude, have fun, and the heck with what it says in the brand name space.

IMNSHO, there's no good reason to buy outside of either Nikon or Canon simply because the market saturation, and years of money spent on trying to keep ahead of each other means that we, the consumers, reap the benefits of their labors.

I shot Canon with film, when I went to switch to digital, I was figuring I'd get the 350D, but investigated the D70s just to be an informed consumer.

I ended up with the D70s simply because it fit perfectly in my hand and the Rebel did not.

I also think that the "Rebel" moniker is terminally hokey.

Canon and Nikon are the best by far and you can't go wrong with either.

OK, just to throw in another player into the mix... Whats the relationship of Sony owners in the Nikon/Canon feud? Are we Switzerland? ;)

I bet all the Canon folks bought their Rebels because of Andre Agassi's hot legs and shiny bald head and their Powershots because of Maria Sharapova's tight rump ;)

I'm amazed how insane people are for brand loyalty about this.

Also, welcome to the dark side.

I guess you could say that Nikon D3X uses Sony sensors? ;-)

(( And now I am toast :-))

Thanks. With the time spent on switching the gear (hell I drove 20 miles to sell a $15 spare battery.. needed every penney.. thx to cheap gas) , I look forward to good experiences with the Nik.

Expect somewhere between 30.000 and 80.000

You are gonna love the D90. My shutter broke on my D50 a few weeks ago and I upgraded to the D90. I love this camera!! Video was not one of the selling points for me either, but I played with it a bit and on occation I can see it being handy. Oh, and my shutter is only going to cost around $80 to fix, cool, now I will have two bodies!! I originally wanted to upgrade to the D300, but with the unxpected breakage I needed another body and just couldn't afford the extra $$. Glad I saved the money as I am VERY happy with the D90.

Not sure.. I think there is a long wait ahead. Adorama hasnt confirmed the order yet.. I only have the initial order submission email.

Oh btw, I just came back from a local Circuit City.. I tried the liveview... dude it rocks! My XSi's liveView was amazing too... but a shutter click with the D90 seems smoother after the focus is locked. I was already aware of the fact that in D90, the AF in live view is only in contrast mode.. so its a bit slow.. takes a couple of seconds. With XSi it was almost instant (phase detect AF). But this is not a strong reason I wanted D90 for. I was particularly impressed by the hi-res LCD display.. helps someone like me a lot who wears glasses to confirm the focus... I am just not optical-view-finder-friendly trust me.
