We've phoned in the order. It's waiting for pickup at Ray's pizza in N.Y. Would you pick it up on your way to the rock and save us the delivery charge?

Nothing better than New York pizza

The comment said absolutely nothing, and it was from a baghead. Pass the garlic pizza please.

What is your definition of bokeh?

I found very, very few without bokeh. Maybe you need to expand your definition. Maybe everyone should and scores would rise at least slightly.

I agree Kelli. Of course the confusion (as usual) could be minimized by having an actual definition to the challenge! Perhaps one that states "for the purpose of this challenge bokeh is defined as: ..........."

I think far to many people here have heard about "little points of light" which really has nothing at all to do with bokeh. Bokeh can have them, or not, they are not the definition of bokeh. sigh.

Don't know if that is good or bad.

There's not doubt that mine has bokeh, by any definition of the word. But that hasn't helped the score any...still at 4.5. There must be something major wrong in the technicals, but nobody is saying.

Too bad we can't require ALL voters to read definition before voting and commenting.

Hey that is where I went to make sure I really understood what I was supposed to be looking at. It definately helped me during voting on this challenge. Now I just have to go back and comment more.

See what I dont get is that you have 10 comments and I have none? I would guess that means that people found something specific in your image that they did not like and could comment on it where as in mine my best guess is that they didn't get it but could not find something specific to bitch about.

I think this is the fundamental problem with this challenge, in order to evaluate the quality of a photo you first need to understand what the photographer was trying to accomplish. As was stated above almost all of the photos in the challenge have and use Bokeh, many of them use it in unusual ways to enhance the photo but unfortunately for them many people seem to think Bokeh is all about fuzzy circles and points of light which really does a major disservice to the concept.

Please share with us why you have made this statement. What do you think is Bokeh that is missing from these photos?

im on a 4.34

Shame, i predicted a 3 for this and 10 ppl telling me i broke the rules. So far, im above score and only 3 comments calling for a rules violation.

Comments depend a lot on the image. I would imagine if you wandered over to yospiff's portfolio and then looked at the images in Bokeh V again you'd be able to pick his out pretty easily. At that point you can probably see why he's getting a lot of comments.

Also, during the challenge isn't necessarily the best time to get feedback. You may or may not get the comments (as you've discovered). Don't sweat it and post a thread after it's over asking for help. You'll get it for sure at that point.

Well...i think "many" was a wrong word..But i agree that there are some pictures there almost don't have background, others that the background is just a little bit out of focus and have no aspects of a creamy background. I think circles of light is just a thing that happens in Bokeh and it's away from a condition, but makes a lot of people think that bokeh is all about that (in my first contact with bokeh i thought that). There are photos with the background too close from the object. I see none of this as Bokeh, that's what i think.

More or less. I gave them something to talk about. The low score was totally expected.
