Now this is just an experiment so I want all our DPC buddies up North to behave so maybe the theaters down here
will follow suit. This especially means you Slippy! hheheheheh

Is it really that unusual? There are two cinema type theaters near here (in Asheville, NC) that serve alcohol, and have for several years, I believe.

Holy Moly, I just checked those out, ready for when we move back to Brisbane.

However, I doubt we'll be seeing a lot of movies that way - for two adults, it costs $66.50 just to get in!!!
I wonder if a cup of popcorn can be had for under $15.00 :-(

Highway robbery, no matter how cosy it looks!

WE have a pretty sweet theatre called the The Moolah Theatre & Lounge. They have big leather lounge chairs that are pretty sweet with cocktail tables in between.

Yeah, you can get seating in a 'special' area with easy chairs, wait staff, and beer. I haven't tried it out, but I have an aversion to theatres due to my Soft Sound Sensitivity Syndrome (Google on it) ... (Listening to people chew and slobber over snacks drives me FUCKING INSANE!)

I don't know, all the people stumbling out to go pee might get annoying. Then again, I've seen a few mediocre movies lately that would have been significantly improved if I had been thoroughly impaired.

I just don't see the point of it. If you're not drinking for the effects of alcohol why not have a soft drink? With a 2-beer limit the intoxication isn't an issue so why waste your money on booze?

A good percentage of movie-goers are already more than obnoxious enough. They don't need to be booze-fueled as well, and these guys will easily get around the limits.

I did and it seems that there is some on-going research involving the use of Viagra to solve this problem. Seems it somehow affects the hearing centers and helps attenuate all the smacking, grinding, macerating, and sucking noises that bother people. In any event other side-affects have a tendency to produce more tolerance anyway. :P

Mainly because it is my money to "waste" as I see fit. About the same amount of sugar involved and the beer actually has a beneficial effect for old men my age. I seldom drink more that two 3.2 beers at one sitting so the amount is perfect for me.

After doing a little research I find
karmat is right. There are a couple of places in my area that do serve beer. Since I've heard that the modern version of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" sucks, I think I'll go see that one during the holidays. A little beer and popcorn will distract me if I find the movie sucks!

Yeah! I just discovered the same here. I've been hiding under my rock for too long!

This exists in the U.S. In college, we used to go to a theatre that served beer and food. It was fun and, surprisingly, quiet.

Is it ok to wear a hat in the theater?
