Anyone hear when the release date is? I heard it was delayed. Anyone planning on getting one?
04/22/2004 02:54:09 PM · #2
I heard it was starting to ship to select US Dealers this week.

I'm assuming it comes with an engine & 4 wheels at the price they are charging. You could drive the 1d around I think.

Stores here (Vancouver, BC) are expecting to fill pre-paid orders next week, shelf stock early June.

$6000 CAN. Vistek supposed to have it by April 30th. Maybe when I become independantly wealthy. Guess I'll never own one. LOL

Going to be a great camera when it is out. At least current Canon users get an idea what they can afford in three (ish) years when Mark III comes out. (Yes I am guessing at names and time frame and don't have any inside knowledge of a new camera)

Supposedly some people in Australia received theirs this week (word I saw on FredMiranda.com was that dealers got 2 per dealership to fill orders).

Canon supposedly revised a shipment date on one of their Japanese sites until either the end of April or first of May for North American markets from what I read.

How about the Canon EOS-10D Mark II? Any indications that such a beast is on the way?

Is it just my imagination or are a lot of people saying they are/will buy one? They are pricy after all and not everyone needs the extra features. (really nice to have but need?)

B&H has them in stock in right now.... better hurry. :)

in that case I'll have the 1200mm $60,000 lens. That would up my badass factor by about 200 points.

I'm gonna get one as soon as it will arrive. Probably I'll buy it here in iceland. It is gonna be around 4500 dollars. I'm just deciding if I'm gonna sell my 1D or not.

Be ready to wait a long time for it. The 1200 is not a normal production lens. It will take them a while to tool up and build it for you as Canon only makes those as they are ordered. I also don’t really savor the idea of carrying around a 36.4lb lens with no IS.

Well ladies and gentleman... B&H has it in stock and you can ORDER IT ONLINE... even though it will lower your value in my eyes considerably just because it is a Canon ;-) Also there is already one on E-Bay hehehe... Craziness. Oh yeah... and there was a truck stolen with about a million dollars worth of photo equipment yesterday... hmmm...

Jacko can't get a 1200mm ... there's not a coupling ring big enough to reverse mount is 50mm onto it.

He could stack some close-up filters in front of it.
