if you could go anywhere to shoot for a weekend, where would you go? What would you shoot?

Antelope Island, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Probably because I have more equipment than I did the last time I was there and it happened to be the most beautiful place I've ever seen. I'm sure it had a lot to do with the time of season and the weather on that day, but it's a fine place to shoot. Lots of wildlife too!

Of course, I don't get out much.

Paris. I'd shoot beautiful French models, wearing beautiful clothes, all over the City of Light. Of course I'd need a stylist, makeup artist, location scout, logistic support staff and an army of assistants...

Of course, that may not be very realistic and would probably take way more than a weekend, but hey, a guy can dream...

All sound great - remember you've got a weekend - you have to get there and back and still have time to do some shooting :) New Zealand is about 24 hours of travel each way if you are in the US.

Well being in Canada and having never traveled to the Rockies I would do that since travel time is to be considered.

Would I have access to a jet that can achieve warp speed a la concord/Phil Collins? If so then I would venture to Europe and find some small villages to photograph historic buildings and their surroundings.

Sorry...I was assuming I'd have access to some super-fast jet or time warp or something. My bad. :-p
Guess I wouldn't really make it to any of the places on my list...

Grand Canyon area then? A little cliche, but I've never been and there seems to be lots of stuff around there in Utah, Colorado, Nevada...and relatively close to each other. A bit more realistic?

You did say a long weekend. To me, that means 3 or 4 days.

Still, the flight to CDG in Paris is about 8-9hr from Detroit then add another 2 hr to get into the city. I guess I just wouldn't sleep much until the flight home.

Would be fun to do the same thing in NYC or SF or NOLA or really any US city with character.

Paris is just my first choice, given the blue sky scenario.

Yeah, Europe is just about do-able - except the timezones don't work in your favour

If you get on a 6-7 pm flight to Paris and sleep on the way there, you land at about 8-9 am ready to go. You'd need someone to handle some logistics on the ground ahead of time, or do so yourself before you left.

The Highlands.

I would spend the whole weekend shooting wildlife, but need a better, longer lens first! Have to get the Ospreys!

It always feels worse to me going that way. The world's longest day. Going the other way is easy - you arrive, tired out, ready to go to sleep and it is night. Going to Europe, I arrive, tired out, and have to stay up for another 12 hours. Painful.

Paris would be good - haven't been there for a few years.

The overnight flight is the way to go. The trick is to get as much sleep as possible on the plane and wake up when you arrive. For me, that works the best.

since i'm located pretty central europe already i'd say paris, london, budapest, italy or the alps would be great for a weekend (haven't been to either paris or london yet so that'd be my priority).
so where can i sign up for it?

Hey, I'm in Aus, NZ is just across the ditch. 2 hours and I am there.............
Or I could head to Antartica. Fly down, land on the Ice Runway. Also possible as well.....
