I'm kind of tired of looking at it... LOL. I checked my score too many times.

like this

I was going to use my 8 year old son in the photo but ironically he didn't have the strength to do it :)
he had worn tight clothes so they wouldn't hang down and I had trouble making the clothes tight on the family friend who stepped in to help.
Also in my rush to set it up I forgot to cover the wire holding the scooter to the wall

I did! After 4 challenges of scores around 4, I finally managed a score over 5 with this photo:

And to top that off... I am currently hovering around 6.5 in the serendipity challenge! Time to close the door to my office and do the snoopy dance again!!!

OK, I only got the blue ribbon because of two DQ's, but on my fifth entry, it is my personal best!
I guess I won't be able to "best" it either.
It's all down hill from here.

I really expected this photo to do much better than it did. I was thinking top ten for sure, possibly even a ribbon. The stats for the photo seem a bit strange too. From an average of 7.733 from the people that commented (and actually looked at the photo?), down to an average of 5.202 from all users? It makes me wonder what criteria people are using for their voting. I think it's actually closer to a popularity contest than a photography contest. Anyway, congrats on your new personal best.

This one makes me feel a little better. I had picked it for the blue ribbon, and I was right.. finally. :)

BTW, there's always room for improvement. More blues, higher scores, even better photos, etc.. Good luck!

Hit the nail on the head micknewton

Its great to get priase, good marks and commets or even criticism and low scores from fellow photographers but the "dont like it" 1's & 2's from posters who dont own a camera and therefore dont submit is a bit hard to crowbar into the realms of a "photography" challenge site.

Absolutely! The average scores from the 'no camera' crowd are almost always much lower than the other averages. My guess is they're family and friends of the contestants and just vote high for their friend or relative and low for everyone else. I wouldn't mind seeing a change where their votes do not figure into the result.

This shot

Is the best score I've gotten since I got the 300D. It finished out at 6.035...21st place. Not too bad :).

I got a personal best. In the top 20. This is the first time I have scored above a 6. I was really excited. This is the 4th contest I have entered, and I am pleased to see my scores going up. Thank you for thinking my pic was good.
