It's almost certain that you will learn more from the comments you make than from those you receive. Remember that your opinion is as valid as anyone else's. I find the most helpful comments simply fill in the blank: "I like/don't like this photo because ___"

BTW: given your username, you should definitely check out the OEDILF -- I haven't participated lately, but I have a few old ones to my credit ...

I do have some good opinions on photography so I will try to give more of them now. Thank you for the link. I will look into it ;=)

I have received some great comments from some well known heavy hitters which gave me the false sense that this was going to do well.

My eighth commenter got very close to figuring it out. They at least got one part of the image. The other part not so much. This is a fun challenge. I can't wait to sit down and try to guess on all of them.

Yee-HAH! I thought I would be pretty good at guessing them. A few are really obvious but I am stumped by a lot of them to. Its fun though.

I got a comment from someone saying my shot isn't 'macro' enough. How the Hell would they know? My shot is an extreme close up of something very small, without seeing the entire thing how can someone judge that? That made me angry.

Score still sucks, 3.8.

I wonder if it was the same person who told me that my shot wasn't 'macro enough' either. I had a good laugh about it instead of getting angry.

I couldn't help but get mad over such a daft comment....but at least both of us aren't fizzing away over it. I'll maybe see the funny side if my score climbs outta the 3 gutter :P

Done! I will probably adjust the scores before voting ends.

Challenge: Puzzle Macro II
Stats: You have rated 261 of 262 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 261 images (100%) in this challenge.

Still keeping everyone stumped over here. Several (Including Karen) identified the material (not hard to do,) but still could not identify what it actually is.

I have a question. If somebody leaves a comment trying to guess the object in your photo, can you pm them back with a "yes" or "no"? In doing so, the person will know who took the photo. Especially, if you discuss the photo somehow. This may influence their vote either positive or negative.

It is not usually good practice to PM someone during a challenge but people do. Yes there is a good chance that it could influence ones vote positive or negative. I think is is wise not to PM. But that is just my humble opinion.

I wouldn't PM them. I like to guess but I will waite untill it's over to see if I'm right.

Most people, including myself, will not change a vote in response to a PM. I never Pm anyone as an effort to influence. Once they place their vote, I assume it is cast. In fact, If I message them, then they might not change the score when they otherwise might have.

I don't have a problem with PM'ing someone in response to a comment, as long as the objective is not to get their vote to change.

only one got even remotely close.
may be I should not have made it that difficult to guess.

I wonder if we're being penalized if we've made it too hard to guess? 'o)
11/19/2008 04:06:36 PM · #123
I've had 3 or 4 pm's about this challenge and my guesses. Some telling me I was right, some telling me I was wrong. But no one asking me to change my vote (not that I would anyway). I see nothing wrong with pms during a challenge.
11/19/2008 04:16:37 PM · #124
I yo-yo'd back into the 6's. WoooHooo.
