I'd say skip Madrid, it might be the capital, but not the best city to visit. Well, I guess it's a matter of taste ...
If you go to Granada/Seville, don't miss Cordoba ... "la mesquita" (the church built in an ancient mosque) it's a great place to take photos. Take the time to stop in small villages in Andalucia, you won't regret it. Btw, how do you plan to travel through Spain?

I would have recommended Galicia, I just love that region, but might be too far from where you plan to go.

Instead, you might wanna go up north Barcelona, to the Atlantic Ocean, the region there is beautiful

Haha, I have to say I disagree, it's one of my favorite cities :)

As far as how cold it gets in winter, here is a chart with degrees C for a couple of the cities on your itinerary. Barcelona/the Med coast will be warmer than the central area (Madrid/Segovia, etc.).

Hey, Spain is my second home country, I've lived there many years and go back at least once a year! Just moving around by train will consume so much energy and time that you'll feel sorry not to have more time available. Consider taking out some items of your list!

As for your original question, I like the epson picture viewer. It has lots of storage and allows you to view pics at a size to already know if they are no good or worth keeping, thus reducing some of your selecting process later on back home.

Do have the option of renting a car? That would be more practical! Driving is good in Spain (except Madrid, if you don't know the place) and only the coastal motorways take tolls. BTW the water is drinkable from the tap!

The Alhambra in Granada is very popular and since they changed the ticket purchase system a while back, you might experience difficulties in getting entrance tickets. Please check ahead of time online!

Just the south of Spain is a huge area and has better weather this time of the year and sooo many wonderful cities, villages, nature.

Speaking spanish is definitely an advantage in Spain:))

You're going to have a great trip!

I stayed a night in Barcelona about 3 weeks ago (defintly not enough time, but it was part of other travels). I stayed at the Gaudi Youth Hostel, and I'd recommend it. Inexpensive. 5 euro deposit for lockers. 2 computer terminals are free. roomed with in a room of 12, but I had no problems (one guy was staying there for 2 weeks).
ooh, also, Mallorca is gorgeous if you can get there.

I echo many of the positive comments here.

Barcelona is a great city - the Gaudi stuff makes for good photos.

Get tickets for the Alhambra in advance on their website - it is an exquisite bit of Moorish architecture. The square outside the church on the opposite side of the valley is a good place for pics.

The countryside around Granada is very beautfiful - worth car hire for a day or two to see some of the countryside.

Eat lots of nice food and enjoy yourself!

Personally, I'd stay longer in Barcelona. I spent a few weeks in Madrid with a short trip to Barcelona and wished it was the other way around. Loved Madrid but Barcelona is richer from what I could see. I don't think 2-3 days will do it justice.

The food in Barcelona was head over heels better(IMO)very Spanish, comopolitan and creative but the Tapas in Madrid were awesome.

For music make La Solea a must. It's pure Flamenco but not a touristy type of show. Gypsies, Madrilenos, students all conributing to the sounds.

I lived as an expat in Spain for 3 years. From my point of view, this is a great itinerary. If it were me, I'd cut a day from Toledo, do it in one day, not two, or even do it as a day trip from Madrid. I might be tempted to do Barcelona in 2 days, not 3. Add the time to Madrid.

While in Madrid, make sure you see the Reina Sofia museum. It's easy to overlook but is my favorite there. And try to visit Valle de los Caidos between Madrid and Segovia.

Also, while in the south, make it a priority to see some Flamenco. You can see it in Madrid, of course, but I like it better in the south.

Too bad you won't be there during bull fighting season. Not to every taste, but once you get over the idea it's a spectacle, not a sport, it's interesting. Check out the bull fighting museum in Ronda. You may get a chance during your white cities tour.

Have a great trip! Bring back lots of photos for us.

I put this on my watch list for I too am planning a trip but I haven't put my finger on a country yet and this one looks very good so far. Always wanted to learn a fourth language and Spanish just may be it.

Hope you have fun and can't wait to see those pics when you come back. :)

That's probably good advice. Don't rush through too many places as it will dilute the entire experience. The more time you spend in any given place the depth of the experience will multiply greatly.

Outside of a few small excursions I did stomp around Madrid, end to end and I think 2 days is a little too short, for such a cool and beautiful city.

If you play guitar you can spend hours going around to the boutique Classical and Flamenco Guitar makers. The instruments are very special, made from choice woods (Flamenco-Cypress) and the energy from the players and makers is something you don't see or feel here in the States (or Canada).

I would second the recommendation for Córdoba's old quarter. Great that you already speak Spanish. Downtown Granada is fun after dark, too.
