Did everybody remember to change the time on your cameras?

See...now why couldn't SC tell us this before the expectation of rollover. I need compensation now for all the fingernails I have bitten off. I haven't got any left to chew now. What do you suppose I use instead??? Thanks SC.

(this comment was said in jest and must not be taken seriously!)

In all seriousness, please check your dates and times.

Please.

Pretty please.

Phew. Not entering anything for tonight's roll-over, so I'm good. ;D

Whew!!! I forgot all about changing my cameras today! Thankfully I didn't get any photos for tonight's rollover.

My camera does this automatically, after I tell it to. :)

Thank goodness I live in Arizona, one of the states that does not have daylight savings.

Yes, but the site does not go by AZ time, but by eastern time - so you still have to deal with the changes for daylight savings time.

You're implying that we all have to set our camera's time at Eastern Time which is wrong. You set it to your own time and if your area does not do daylight savings time then you don't have to worry about anything.

One of mine was already correct! Sadly, not automatic, but only because I had never switched it last spring.

I don't take many images near midnight, so I was safe from the "shot before/past window" issue, anyway :-)

lol, fortunately, you didn't get into trouble because of it. My camera was the last thing I ever thought of switching back to EST, it's only because of this thread that I did it. ;|

From what I can figure, it'd be pretty rare indeed for the time change to actually cause you to be disqualified because of a time related rules breach.

With the clock going back an hour, you'd pretty much have to shoot your shot an hour before the challenge started, over the course of that hour.

I'm pretty sure that there aren't that many last minute shooters are there? hehe.

Don't read too much into what I said. I never meant to imply/say/claim that you had to set your camera to Eastern Time. If I lived in AZ my camera would be on AZ time. How you deal with the daylight savings time and eastern time zone issue is up to you. The site turns over at midnight EST or on eastern daylight savings time and the images have to be taking within a certain time frame that matches the eastern time zone. That is what you have to deal with. If you live in AZ then the end of the time window will not be that same local time year round. My sole point is that you can't get out of dealing with the issue if your area does not recognize daylight savings time. And for some parts of the world it problem is even worst as they do recognize it, but make the change on a different set of dates.

So, when I look at a challenge entry form, it makes no reference to EST, just the date. So, if you took the image on the first day of the challenge in your local time, even if that was before the contest opened EST, I assume that should be fine (your exif data would support it). I suppose the tricky thing is just making sure to get your entry into the challenge before it closes on the EST zone....

Yes, if the following is what you mean.

I'm in mountain time which is ET - 2 so my rollovers are at 10pm rather than midnight.
