And all you guys thought I was crazy. From the changelog:

- An issue that caused abnormal image display when Image review was set to On and the playback zoom in button was pressed immediately after shooting at the following settings has been resolved.
. Image quality: NEF (RAW ) + JPEG
. NEF (RAW) recording: Lossless compressed or Compressed
. Image size: S or M

Along with quite a hefty other list of features. I'd go do it ASAP! This is the update for the D300 comparable to those big updates for the D3. Kinda.

Edit: In case you're in the stone age of computing and using a Mac and haven't found the download link yet, here it is:

Link for silly Mac users.

Hey, thanks for posting this. That is quite the change log. Lots of good menu changes indeed.

Updating as we speak! :) Thanks for posting this... I'm sure I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

No problem... I'm just overjoyed that my stupid error is finally fixed! My buddy thinks I should contact Nikon and see if any credit to the error goes towards me, or at least ask for some free stuff since I brought it to their attention so many times and was told it didn't exist. Well, I think this update confirms it does (did) exist :P

Awesome, thank you so much for the notice!

Great to hear your problem is fixed!

My D300 should be arriving tomorrow, will I have to update each firmware version chronologically- or can I just update straight to v1.10? I've never done a firmware update on my D50.

Cheers!

You'll probably have to do the updates chronologically; I know it said for this update you HAD to have the most recent firmware (before 1.10 obviously, I think it was 1.03) in order to do it. I don't know if you can skip straight to 1.03, but I bet you won't even have to because it probably will come with it.

You should be able to update straight to v1.10. And the download page gives pretty decent instructions on how to do it. Just remember to update the A and B firmware seperately (A 1st, B 2nd). That was the one thing that I think the instructions aren't 100% clear on.

I'm not sure the order matters so much, just yeah, don't do them both at the same time.

Ya, order may not matter. I checked the instructions about which version to update from and it said:

"Two firmware versions (A and B) will be displayed. Both should be earlier than 1.03."

Not the clearest sentence ever, but I think they mean v1.03 or earlier.

I just finished running through the change log after the update. I've got to say, I think the auto ISO change, initial vertical image rotation, and copyright info are pretty awesome.

Update complete.....thanks!

It finally arrived! After a couple of months of forces conspiring against me (social security number never arrived after moving here, then no tax card = no pay for the 2 months work i'd already done), it all came together today! My first months pay AND the camera arrived on the same day! Horray!

Thanks for the info and heads up! Im going to update once i've finished playing ;)

Just to clear things up for anyone else in the same boat, I contacted Nikon Support. I got the reply ''The firmware version 1.10 can be updated from any previous firmware version''.

I'm off to update!
