I have to tell you I was, and still am, against the goverment bailout . However, reading this latest story is amazing.
AIG received 85 Billion dollars in federal dollars (our dollars) to save their company. Less than a week after - they took executives on a retreat to the tune of $440,000 which included $23,000 in spa services and $7,000 in golf among other food and housing costs.
They cite it is their regular practice to reward employees and independent sales people. Guess what? It was many corporations practice to do this and they have stopped in response to accountability to the bottom line. Do they really believe that they need to continue? What could be the reason - I would imagine just having a job in this economy is reward enough to employees/sales/etc.
The last two years our corporation has not held their usual fun fest. Matter of fact last year it was all slated for San Diego - deposits made, etc. However, numbers weren't there to justify it and it was scraped
I don't consider this a party-line discussion.... sorry, Dems and Repubs voted to put this through!
