Be happy there are people here who vote honestly and with a critical eye. It keeps DPC from turning into a flickr clone, where a bunch of mindless sheep run around falsely inflating each other's egos by pretending that every image posted is another masterpiece.

If you vote honestly and with a critical eye as you state, then you are actually stating that you feel the majority of DPC photos are far below what your own personal standards are? And your vast and superior intelligence is shown by taking someone's quote and turning it into "blah blah blah"?

I am getting tired of your mindless drivel.

Sorry about the blah blah blah. This is the 2,734th time someone has tried to convince me that I should be voting the way they do, though it is ironic that this time it's coming from someone who thinks everything is below average. At any rate, got a little testy so sorry again.

You should vote however your heart tells you to. And having 10 extra dummy accounts or nice friends to help you establish your voting style is even better!

So does this mean that I should only vote between 1 and 4 because there apparently aren't any images on this site worthy of a 10 from me....even though that vote is coming from my own personal opinion, technically based or otherwise???????

Hmmmm....yes everybody has the right to their own opinion...but you only have the right to express your opinion if you are willing to accept other people also have an opinion and also you have to be willing to accept other peoples reaction to your opinion.

Now bite me!

(NOTE - this is not aimed at any one person....just stating MY OPIONION...and yes....I accept everybody has their own opinion and I will be shot down by people who think my opinion is wrong!)

Actually, I think you're pretty much spot on.

Blah blah blah blah... The real tragedy here is that not a single woman(or married ;-) has yet to favorite my self-portrait. :-p

Ooops, I forgot. This is a "scores" thread.

That's simply not true. Anyone can vote as they please, think everyone else is wrong and still expect not to be called out in the forums for their average f**king vote because there is a rule that supposedly says it shouldn't happen.

"Supposedly" is the key word here. Taken from the Forum rules:

Do not attack other users. This includes "calling out" specific comments or commenters in a hostile manner. Personal attacks are never appropriate in a constructive discussion. If you disagree with another participant, address their points without attacking them personally. Be aware that others may have differing opinions of a personal attack, so use care when posting. Please note that this includes publicly "calling out" commenters (whether by name or not) in a hostile way.

As far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with pointing out a commenter's average vote cast. What is wrong is attacking that person with harsh words because of it.

I wish there were more people who were more critical. I won a freak'n ribbon in an abstract challenge without entering an abstract! :P

Just trying to lighten the mood.

Heh, and I even gave you an 8. And I agree that it really isn't an abstract shot. I must have been in a super-duper good mood that day. ;-)

These are the kind of comments in the forums that just rub me the wrong way. This is not specificly directed at you, Pikkel, but all of the people that feel the same way that you do. This website offers up challenges. They are called challenges because they are challenging. I am going to use the challenge that this thread is about for a reference (just to keep things on track).

Believe it or not, studio lighting is VERY difficult to get right. MUCH harder than taking your subject outdoors. When someone comes along and complains that they are getting a low score because they chose to step outside the challenge description, and accuses all of the people on this site of being "close minded", it is a personal affront to the rest of the folks that actually tried to master some light in the studio for this challenge. So you don't have lights? Can't make it look like you do? Sit this one out. I don't enter a mountain shot into the ocean challenge and then call people small minded or that they lack "out of the box thinking" because they vote me down. I should have expected LOWLOW votes just by entering my damn mountain! I know I don't have any oceans, so I keep my ass out of the challenge in the first place!!!

I find it disgusting that folks enter whatever they want into a challenge (like an outdoor portrait in a studio portrait challenge) when it is obvious that some people who at least tried to make it look like they had a studio, even though they didn't, are getting low scores (when they would have done better by just taking their subject outdoors), and are having to listen to people bitch that entered an outdoor portrait because there are so many "close minded" people on this website.

I also find it disgusting that people vote higher for some of the outdoor shots than they do the ones that at least ATTEMPTED to makeshift a studio. Sure, those outdoor shots are good shots, but at least give points for EFFORT and not laziness.

Sorry, but I am repulsed by folks that attempt to change the views of others to get a better vote because they don't have the tools necessary to do the job but want to play with the big dogs. It's just wrong. On many levels. It is also VERY mean and spiteful. Look at all of the statements you guys make with the eyes of someone that has a low score but attempted to stay true to the challenge idea. Think of how ya'll would feel about those people if they placed higher than you. Then grow up and take some frikkin responsibility for your actions.

Well, I'm a little at a loss in this challenge...Ho Hum. I don't own a hat big enough to fit on my ass; my photo's score is in the mid-5's ::yawn:: (probably due to the guillotine look and poor studio lighting...I'm really best outdoors); the only box I own has a large X on it and ran out of batteries this weekend; I did not receive any validation requests for my coveted DQ; I definitely do not sing and have absolutely no wish to bite Judi.

::sigh...twiddles thumbs::
