At least I know that the person I shot it for really likes it. I know I'm having issues since I moved, but not how to fix 'em. I showed a selection of possible entries to people who used to help me choose my entries - and the common thread there was "well, nothing really pops out at me" - w/ one person even saying, "I know you can do better than this." LOL
(And did I miss the "Bees and Owls" challenge this month? This FS seems to have many outtakes from it.) Edit because it's not just owls - the challenge was Bees and Raptors.

| I think that when people get home from work they are cranky. They should go home, sit down have a bottle of wine, maybe see a funny movie and then vote. That way I would get a higher score. |

Well I was 6.7+ all day, and it seemed to be going up. I left school at 3:30 and I was feeling good. Came home 3 more votes had been posted and this is what I am left with.

And falling. I was hoping for a PB, but it looks like I will have to try again. 7 Very nice comments however.

ooh, 7 comments is good so early in the challenge and, whilst its early days you do have a pb right now ;) Me? was a personal #4 when I got home from work and as I retire to bed its now at #13 :( That said, its still a pretty darn good score :)

That's been my observation for a long time. I have often discussed the hungry and cranky voters with my husband. There should be a rule against voting while you are waiting for dinner. |

I guess the evening crown doesn't like my picture as much as the morning crowd did. Doesn't surprise me though, I don't do well in FS... But I do think I have a very good clean sharp picture. I would give it a 9 if I were to vote on it.

I am not complaining, just whinning a bit. My score just dropped .105 in the 3 votes I recieved in the last 2 hours. :(
I fear that it might have flown upwards too far and started breathing the thin air, then became starved for oxygen and is now going to plummit back to earth with a loud splatt!

I should know better, really. Problem is, I know what does well on this site, but I go against the grain on purpose. Should I stop doing that? Naaaah.

I highly doubt the majority of people are getting sick of them, and I'd feel pretty darned happy to nail a good one myself, if I actually decided to ever set one up. Like I said, it's a personal issue. To me, they represent everything that is wrong with photography in today's age. The fact that you have so many people with cameras now, and that they are so easily won over by a showing of a good mastery over technical difficulty. However, when that happens, we lose the thing that I believe vaulted photography into the realm that it is, and that's the ability to capture the emotion of a subject. I'm certainly not very good at that myself, but damn do I enjoy it when I see it. Sadly, here, one has to dig rather deep sometimes to see it, and constantly seeing these technical masterpieces that otherwise lack anything of any real substance on the front page can be a bit of a frustrating experience to someone like me.
C'est la vie though. Like what you like, shoot what you want, and be happy in doing so.
