How about a little counter under the update button to see how many times its been pressed during the current challenge.. gimmicky but fun. probably easy to implement as well.

a = number of times button already pressed
a = a + 1
print a

coding has probably changed since the days of the commodore 64, but you probably get the gist. :)

and if it gets too high a number, a 'HAL' like voice that says

"I can't let you do that Mark . ."

when you reach for the button :- )

Haha, then it can also be a stat on the profile pages so we can all laugh at the biggest Update Button abusers.

I liked this idea for a minute, but now I'm not so sure. . . I don't like getting laughed at. :(

Slippy's just trying to think of a way, any way, to get us to laugh at others instead of him. Don't worry, it ain't gonna happen :)

Awww, but I like it in there.... lots of empty space to roam around in, and some really great echos! :)

I am a house, says Slippy, locked and darkened,
Sealed from the sun with wall and door and blind.
Summon me loudly, and you’ll hear slow footsteps
Ring far and faint in the galleries of my mind.
You’ll hear soft steps on an old and dusty stairway;
Peer darkly through some corner of a pane,
You’ll see me with a faint light coming slowly,
Pausing above some gallery of the brain . . .

I just love the fact that you referenced the good old Commie 64! I ran my own bulletin board for a time...those were the good old days.....
