I understand what you are saying, but I think you are being a bit radical. I have visible sensor dust in my pic as well. As a newbie who bougth the camera 6 months ago, I didn't have the guts to clean my sensor yet. And I think my photo can exist beyond the visible dust.

I've decided that a long exposure has to be one full second or more, so I'm giving 1's and 2's to everything that doesn't look that way.

Oh great. Another presumption of exposure....

I didn't realise that this was one of the criteria for a long exposure shot. I admire your work enormously and as a learner I actually looked at some of your works for inspiration, for this challenge....cough!...cough!!!....

Well, I'm looking for "impact" like the challenge asks. Again, I only gave out 3 scores of 1 or 2. I'll go back and make sure that none of them are impacted by an especially deep DOF that wouldn't have been possible with a shorter exposure and wider aperture.

Glad to hear the 5D is ok! ;)

I believe the idea of this challenge is to deliver a shot that is outstanding without any adjustments. Sensor dust or unfortunate lens flare or underexposure etc. can be a result of the minimal edit set, but the concept that I have taken with voting is that the image needs to stand by itself without excuses. If it has obvious flaws, I am going to vote accordingly.

Nice comment from you, Peter, thanks! Score is dropping like a rock... Soon it'll catch up with my other one (Safety), which stands at the expected 5.1. All is good, though. Accomplished what I set out to, more or less, so in my own feeble mind I met the challenge presented to me. Had a good time shooting stuff for this challenge, too!

Edit to add that I really do like minimal editing challenges. It forces us to see the whole picture and what we wish to tell, and try to capture it all "as is". 'Tis a good exercise!

Oh! I so agree, but why does it begin with cleaning, ......first the shutter, ........then the lense! Was I the only person that burnt my first round of images, because you couldn't actually see them, because of the filth and rats living in my camera....well possibly a slight, ...but only slight exaggeration there! ...about the burning :)!!

A shot onto white paper with the lens you are going to use at small aperture is all you need to do in order to determine if you have the grungy fungies on your sensor...That way you don't end up blowing a whole shooting session before you get out there...

Aargh. Just reread challenge description. Definitely lacking in "interesting effects" contributing to the "impact" of my photo. I suspect it is easier for a commenter to say it's not a long enough exposure than for him/ her to say the former - not out of laziness but to avoid hurt feelings... If I had a little more self-respect I might withdraw my image.

Truly, Minimal edit is going to be the most "educational" in regard to Photography and using the camera (the latest trend, using RAW, actually allows for a handicap with things like white balance and even exposure to some degree - that's why I use it ;).
