*LOL* so whats your score!? :-D

NICE! hope it sticks right there and is immovable (other than going up of course) maybe we'll all luck out and the votes will stop going down here in... *one can hope right?*

Mine is still going down :( It's a bit confusing since I've not got any bad comments! I guess those nice commenters aren't voting. I've had a lot less votes than views this time.

I agree. Did I miss the announcement that you should just lean against something solid and take a quick snapshot for this challenge?

Apparently - GRIN!

And if you didn't you'll get many, MANY DNMC (or 'I don't understand how this meets the challenge!) SMILE!

That's what I'm saying. I bet I would have done better over at Shallow DOF. I didn't even think to enter it... that was dumb. They really shouldn't have added the literal description on this one. Just left it as "immovable" and that's it. Or if they had said "Show a person interacting with an immovable object". Then I'd be so golden and take my ribbon and say see ya later suckas! But no! "Trying to move" has screwed me on this. Lame.

Yep, did it day before yesterday. It's not my best work but I was seriously stumped for subject matter (I know there's a million things with numbers on but my mind went blank!)

don't feel bad I think it screwed everyone who dared to enter *lol* :-D the thing is...people really don't think out of the box -- its word for word break out the dictionary and define it in fine detail --

there should obviously be a person in all the shots (someone)

my score is dive-bombing again I wish it would go up instead and at least not kill my overall average but I know it will -- oh well... a PB this week and potentially a PW!? :-D *LOL*

My original plan was to have a Woody trying to push over a tree, 'Woody vs Wood' but decided that a Woody wouldn't really count as a 'someone', figuring I'd get smacked with DNMC comments.....it might've actually done better than my entry is doing though!

well however you're doing I bet its far better than how i'm doing --

I did go in and bump everyone a bit tho :-D in hopes that their scores would go up even a tiny (tho from the sounds of it more ppl are bumping -down- :( -- darn oh well I figured I'm justified in giving the extra point for the entrants having the kazoozas to enter this challenge in the 1st place ;) :-D)

True! I even have a macro lens but thought I wanted to try something more challenging for me - and it was, maybe a little too challenging! LOL! Well, this one will bring down my average a little but now I'll be all set for the "Better than Average" side challenge next time around. :-) Maybe next time the Exclusive challenges will be set up better so that they are a little more similar in difficulty so they draw a similar number of entries. I decided not to vote in the DOF challenge as I like to vote for all the entries in a challenge and I didn't have the time to go through them all. I'm really looking forward to this one being over but not sure which one to enter next - I really don't like either of the Exclusive topics much, maybe I'll wait for the next round of topics.

seatbelts/ firestations/ police stations / (police keeping the community safe) / safety-harnesses for children/ childproofing safety-gates at the top of stairs/ condoms / contraceptives / safety-manuals & books / helmets -kneepads and reflectors on kids/adults bike riding --- risk- jumping off of a building without a parachute no net/ driving without a seat-belt/driving with a seat-belt/ picking a fight with someone a lot bigger / or a person putting their head into the mouth of a crocodile-lion or such.../ sharing a needle on the streets with others... / taking drugs in general from the street / walking alone at night in an alleyway where someone may be lurking alone as a female / doing anything a warning label tells you not to do with a product... ;) :-D

I know how you feel there-- my score sucks and I'll be glad when this challenge is just -done- at this point *heh* :-)

wish I had more time to shoot tho-- unfortunately all I have are some topless shots of one of my female friends...

Now THAT sounds risky or at least risque! Hmmmmmm topless shots getting to your boss, mother, husband or ? It's a thought!

*LOL* or a couple in bed at the house while the husband is about to walk in... ;) :-D and the husband is a marine or something of the sort -date circled on the calander of when he'll be home etc... *LOL* ;-D

or a kid on a laptop chatting with some perverted person in a chat room saying "meet you at the playground at 3:00 my parents won't be home" or such... 2 someone who claims to be 13 but is actually 40+ or such and or a psycho -- but... I digress...

there are a TON of risks people take every day (cutting other people off in traffic/ working without a helmet on a construction site while heavy I-beams are being swung over them... reaching into a stove without oven mits etc- ;)

posting your score on the forum *lol* :-D

;)

I work in construction (applied to school boards and waiting for interview...) and there are soooo many risky things... BUT I am having trouble thinking of how to make one into a great picture... I find that to make a great pic for the challenges is 1/2 the idea and 1/2 the quality of the shot... i'm only half way there... I just need to make my ideas into a great pic... that's the hard part... But thanks for the additional ideas Love6... hmmm i really like one of them... i won't say which one though because i might use it =)

09/14/2008 08:26:11 PM · #118
I actually entered something in the "Risk" challenge and then withdrew it after trying to look at it critically and deciding that it really wasn't worth entering. I like the idea well enough, but I want to try and execute it better and, if I don't get a chance to shoot it or it doesn't turn out well, at least I won't have to be checking constantly to see how poorly that other shot would be doing and having it bring down my average even more!
09/14/2008 08:30:09 PM · #119
hahaha I HATE that... when you enter a pic that you know isn't great, then whenever you click on update you get so disappointed... even though you knew it was coming... it's like setting yourself up for disappointment...

*lol* well I have about a thousand other ideas... like its a risk to lay down on the yellow lines of a busy road (make sure you use friends cars on a really non-risky road tho in real life! *hehe*)

risking your camera over the water just to get that perfect shot (having the camera literally a fraction of an inch above the water while barley holding on to a rope and feet precariously balanced on the end of something *of course have the camera a dead old POS that you don't mind loosing! *lol*)

the risk of stealing while the boss is right behind you or from the register (if you know of an owner willing to let you pose with the register etc)

the risk of breaking and entering (of course don't actually -do- it...)

the risk of stepping onto property that says "tresspassers will be shot" :-D with someone in the background with a gun ready and aimed....

the risk of eating a large amount of sugar while diabetic (insulen in the shot)

of course i digress tho... ;)

who else here has recieved comical comments? :-D I think most of my comments recieved are mostly amusing! :-D

I finally came up with something for 'safety' and just shot the scene at about 100 different angles, now I just gotta sort through 300+ pics and choose the best one! It's gonna take me til deadline hour to do but hopefully it'll be worth it.

Immovable score seems to have stuck fast; it may not be going up but it's not going down neither, so I'm pretty happy with that! I've hit 38 comments as well.
