Hi,
I'm curious how you would edit this! This is a photo from my first wedding shoot, and I'm trying to better my editing skills.

My five minute version:
Not limiting myself to basic editing, and I used the Virtual Photographer plugin as well as the OnOne phototools.
I probably went way too far with blurring the background out, but that was the effect of doing a noise reduction (Neat Image) on such a small image. :)

Okay, this probably isn't how I would ever edit an bridal image, but hey... I was having a bit of fun:
I darkened the greens a bit, lightened the flesh tones, came up with something pretty close to pgrirish007's rendition, and then decided to add something totally different so I went for the radial blur. :)

real quick, brighten it up with curves, loose the tree and adjust the skin tones.
ETA: you should've used your flash or something

Neat Image
Desaturated in Hue/Saturation
Smart Sharpen (Amount 29, Radius 56px)
Dodged her face to brighten it
Burned her dress to bring out the creases
Blurred some compression jaggiez on her dress
Burned a vignette in the corners

I think I'd be tempted to go with something like this to reduce the background a bit and enhance the dress and bride.
ETA: Sorry actually didn't like the fully desaturated background so just selectively reduced the saturation until I was happy with it pulling the Bride and the Dress out of the frame... At least that's what my intentions were.

As I see it, your photo has two competing issues - The bride's face is too dark on the near side and needs to be lightened and the bottom of her dress is blown out already. If there was any detail along the hem, it is not visible in your picture. Your shoot is a business and if the bride was standing outside in a park, she is probably expecting nature pictures, so going with a black out or white out background is somewhat risky. If you clone out the tree, also take care of its branches coming from the bride's head - she probably won't appreciate appearing to have antlers. I'd go for making her face and expression the focal point of the shot, while taking care not to blow out the lower dress any more than it is already. There are some good edits in reply, but I think yours is an excellent compromise with the issues, and a shot any bride would be pleased to display in her home. You may want to lose the tree, but it is extra work and not necessary - unless the bride does not like it.

I did this in a couple minutes using mainly NIK ColorEfex pro 3.0. If you don't have it...you should get it.

Actually the histogram shows a perfect exposure and the brightest part of the dress doesn't clip. Probably a monitor issue. Problem is getting that bright spot to stay in range cost the shot everywhere else, particularly in the face where you want it brighter. |

My issue with this photo is the bright spots on either side of her head, I would tone those down. And I'm not talking about Art's Additions LOL

Here's mine. I would work on the dress a little more -- it's little harsh on the bottom.
