Brilliant idea I had "Stumbled" upon and I thought it great to share. I slapped one together and took some low light shots and the difference was remarkable. Tried this with my wide angle and my 50mm. You gotta love simple ideas like this. Goodbye monopod and in many cases, my tripod as well!

BUMP!

I was just catching up on messages since I was out of town and came across this. WOW. [ slaps self on forehead ] This is kind of thing you see and smack yourself for not thinking of yourself.

I remeber seeing this in another thread....has anyone else actually tried this, it seems a bit simplistic to me, but sometimes the most symplistic things are the most effective

I might have to try this - the ninja panning moves at the end of the video were an inspiration!

Ha ha that was brilliant, he wouldn't ever miss a shot with that speedy panning!

I think he's missed his calling in life anyway as he'd give David Blaine a run for his money with those "Sleight of hand" knot skills

Did you try it on a long zoom lens? I think this wouldnt work when the long extended barrel of a mediocre telephoto shakes. But I havent tried yet.

I've been carrying one of those with me for about 3 years now..... used it twice with very limited success.
It seems brilliant, and it DOES help, just not as much as one would hope.

I tried it, and thought it worked. I used about 3 washers to make it heavier. I guess I thought of it this way, when I go hiking I refuse to carry a tripod, so this cheap version is better than nothing at all.
