At least I am not the only one. Maybe we can start the lowest score without a comment competition.........

Not a photo I would normally submit (as it is overexposed) and was tossing up between this one and another (which combined overexposed elements with dark areas that got no light on them, and I was concerned about people saying those areas were underexposed)

I think the overexposure adds to the effect of what I am trying to portray, but obviously not. Maybe people are forgetting that photos here are MEANT to be overexposed.

Oh well, there is always next week. Heading for an all time worst........

if a 4.4 is your all time worst..............well I think you have nothing to be sad about

Sniff sniff...
Has anyone ever used the "ask image to be taken down while voting" thing? I think my image is really DNMC and I didn't realize it. Is it worth to ask for it to be taken down before voting is over, or do people usually use those only when they have an image that would be DQ'd and they didn't realize it earlier?

Don't do it, just absorb the blow, and bury it in the bottom of your profile with better images over the next few weeks and months.

I continue to enjoy this score, and all of my commenters tell me I achieved my intent. My main problem is I can't look at my own entry without getting a headache. :)

Yes, I Self DQ'd about a month or two ago but you have to remember that it counts as a regular DQ. That's not a big deal to me, as I don't enter every week.

Kind of wish I could do it this week but since I collected a favorite, the sub-5 score is OK with me.

UHGGGG...I hate this challenge. I should have never entered and now I will have my lowest score ever to show for it. Only one comment...to say it doesn't look overexposed. Well guess what, it's puposely overexposed by three stops and then some in post! I need to take a break.

When you register for an account here, don't you have to agree to DPChallenge rules and the TOS?

From the Forum Rules:
Rule #2
"Please do not discuss specific challenge entries or outtakes until voting has ended. Doing so can affect voting and commenting, so please save these discussions for after the end of the voting period. Please report any posts discussing these, and do not reply to them. Outtake threads posted early will be removed."

I know people who have taken their photo down (self DQ) when it is scoring badly. But be aware that if you self DQ and then get a DQ because of rules infringement, you won't be able to enter for a few challenges (can't remember exactly but it's in the rules).
09/04/2008 08:56:02 AM · #113
Opps, sorry, I went to find the rules to correct what I said but you beat me to it..... I meant you cannot have another 'self DQ' or a 'DQ' until another 25 challenges. I hope that's right.

The penalty is not 25 challenge, the is the number of challenges you used to assign penalties if more than one DQ occurs.

From the Challenge Rules

1st DQ in last 25 submissions: No penalty
2nd DQ in last 25 submissions: 1 week suspension of submission privileges
3rd DQ in last 25 submissions: 2 week suspension of submission privileges
4th DQ in last 25 submissions: 4 week suspension of submission privileges and 3 months of required “pre-submission” of proof file.

This is what Sherpet was referring to.

You may:

request removal of your own entry during the voting period IF none of your last 25 entries were disqualified or removed, and no rules were violated.

Yes 4.9 here. Histogram fairly even but absolutely clipping the highlights, I used the overexposure to enhance my subject, and it is not blown out. Accused by one commenter of overprocessing yet there was only curves and a little saturation, usm. With only the one comment there's no way to know why it's being voted so low. Compelling subject, or so I thought.

If I cared about my scores any more, I'd be self-DQing, yep. Missed the mark here yet again.

Well - I'm sad because I missed rollover and I'm sitting here with a picture I wanted to enter and can't : (

I can't even throw it in a FS because it was taken on the last day of August . .

Maybe I should be allowed to enter late and just have less days for people to question it's over-exposedness . .

:- )

LOL - How true for me too! I was thinking about joining the new DPCO III for the Southwest (I live in CA now) or Midwest (born in MN), but I didn't want to drag a team down with my pathetic scores. I'm almost .1 below my average now and the only thing that will save me is the scrubber. Oh well, I like my image and can only try to get better with my technique and PP, but I wish I had the vision/eye of you and the other great photogs on the site, that's what I really need! :-)

If it is going to happen, it seems to occur between 100 and 125 votes for some reason (or is that region).
