hey california dpc'ers! I am going to move this thread to "out and about" since that seems to be the predominate theme of the thread! Enjoy your outings and happy shooting! :)

I work at the Japanese Tea Garden in SF. We have some colors, but not quite what you would see elsewhere yet.

I'll be in san Diego starting tonight through Wednesday for a trade show. I think I'm staying at the Hilton in Del Mar. Anything interesting around there?

I tried the Japanese Garden and this is from there only.

But I have to admit that this is a lot of PS work rather natural colors

Did you try Strybing Arboretum across the street? I'd think there would be at least a few examples of Fall color in there.

Sometime I want to take pictures from the top of Mount Diablo near Walnut Creek. On a clear day (more likely in Winter I think) you can see the Farallon Islands some 30 miles outside the Golden Gate, and eastward to the Sierras.

I've noticed that a lot of the trees in the North Bay have started showing good color. Unfortunately, it seems that most of the best color is in areas where there really isn't anything worth photographing. I haven't checked yet but I would imagine the next few weeks will give some of the best vineyard color in Napa and Sonoma. If your idea of fall color isn't limited to leaves there are a lot of pumpkin patches in the Bay Area.

The Arboretum doesn't seem to have enough of the autumn/fall colors to make a trip there. Quite a bunch of flowers in bloom, but not too much yellow, orange, reds around.

Currently a photography exhibit by Helen Sobolcalled "Skin Deep - The Beauty of Bark"at the library in the arboretum.

The festival happened last week, including the pumpkin weightoff.

I'm from the bay area. I enjoy it here. Lived in so. cali most of my life, but northern cali seems to be more cultured, and simply better.

To anyone, the san francisco skyline from treasure island starting at sunset is a classic this time of year. Some of the buildings are outlined in lights.
