For those of you wanting a 300D, but hesitant because you are afraid that you will be ridiculed for not having a "pro" black camera. Canon has the answer here:

Black 300D

Note that this approach, unlike previous solutions, does not involve disassembling the camera and will not void the warranty....

I don't mind the silverish color. Pictures still come out looking the same. It's the photographer I would like to improve. :)

Although the black body does look better in my opinion, what difference does it really make? I doubt that it makes any difference in the images. What gets me though is this part, "Remember also that the Japanese market get the USM version of the EF-S 18-55 mm lens which is powered by a normal DC motor in the rest of the world." Why do they only include the USM lens in the Japanese market? That seems kind of chicken sh*t to me.

The whole issue of black vs silver seems irrelevant to me as well. Some photographers seem to think the silver 'looks' cheap and unprofessional. Some people like to wear Tommy Hilfiger stuff for the same reason I suppose :)

I would have bought my 10d even if it was silver. The color of the camera doesn't change the photos you make with it.

Anyone know the url for the 'do it yourself' SPOOF-black 300D? Someone posted it here about a year ago. It was very funny.

The silver doesn't bother me, I just like the look of the solid black.

As someone who has stood amongst a myriad of pros with 1Ds', D1Xs, etc, at a couple of big sports events, I think I'd prefer a black one. :-)

In my opinion black is less noticeable, erm how do I say this, I think that people are more unaware of me when I point something black at them instead of something silver. They should make all cameras dark green or really dark gray, that's even better.

Where's the Hello Kitty stickers?

Edit: :P

They should make a RebeL version in white with red accents

If they come out with an "Orange-Rebel" with "01" on the side. I'm going to get one.

Mine all come out with a silver tint. I think the black would be better for B&W photography. :-)

Well when it hits the shelves, my guess is you'll see a ton of silver ones up for sale on ebay--
People love black cams, it does look alot better in black.

I've been planning on getting a 300D and was going to go buy one this weekend, but now I'm going to wait a little longer and see if they come out with a black one in the U.S.

Only 1 out of 6 Best Buy stores in the area have a 300D in stock. Maybe Canon's waiting for the black models before shipping any more out????
