Does anyone know of any websites with good tutorials on converting photos to black and white with Photoshop 7? I know there are quite a few different ways it can be done, but I would like to be able to do it with the most control.

Thanks, Dan

PS 7 comes with an action for sepia toning - it can be adjusted to B&w. you can desaturate (by menu command or hue/saturation settings) or by changing mode to grayscale and leavie it therre or change it back to RGB and adjust the hues. One popular action is Digidan's b&w one, but i cannot find the link (only references to using it). It is not legal for basic editing challenges though.

found digidaan (2 a's that's why!)

I've found that just converting it to grascale or desaturating the image can cause unwanted noise. It is fast, but kind of sloppy. Something slower and more manual, but with much less noise, is painting with color (either white or black both work). This is the method I've found that causes the least amount of noise to be introduced in the process. Just make sure you don't miss any pixels (and it would disqualify an image for the basic editing requirements).
