Yep, I don't think they understand me and my photo on this. Seems that the scoring is very mixed so the Bell Curves will be interesting. But having seen the other scores posted, maybe I might do alright in the ranking (just not int he scores).

Oh well, and where does a 26 year old engineer without kids find a Doll to photograph?????

I hate puppets and dolls so this is going to be another challenge .....or maybe we need to go to the overexposed......my first thought when I saw that was the exact same thing....the old inflatable doll.......

So if you dont get the score you want, Or think you deserve, because someone interprets your photo differently than you intended they are all dumb or stupid or unintellectual in some way?

Well, that's what I'm telling myself. We are all misunderstood artistes.

Really, I think they are going by the challenge title with no further understanding of the topic. I honestly think mine is better than this, but I also knew it would be subject to "I don't get it, DNMC."

Looking forward to reading your perception, as you left what I *think* is a positive comment on mine.

This is my first Challenge entry and I am a little disappointed at the lack of imagination among my commentaries... thanks however to all who posted a comment...
apparently a road...means blacktop to most here, very disappointing

Don't feel alone there. Mine is dropping and dropping, and dropping more, for probably the same reason. This is going to be one of my lowest scoring entries, on what I honestly believe is a pretty decent shot.

Someone wrote on the purple thread:

You would be surprised how you could help a person. Often, one cannot see the forest for the trees...you work on an image both in setup and processing...and by the end, you have seen that image so much, that you just cannot see where to improve. The slightest remark from anyone can offer be the trigger to solving areas that has had the photographer stuck for sometime, no matter the experience of the viewer.

I tend to agree with what this person wrote above. You can be the most prolific picture taking and pp'ing guru, but even then, there may be some shots that you work on that may not be "dpc friendly," as many refer to it as being. You may be so infatuated with your own shot(maybe because you had to hike 10 miles to get to it, waded in chest deep water to take it, took one week to set up the studio, etc etc), that in your mind it's the BOMB. After putting in so much time for one shot, of course you're going to have high expectations! But do the rest of the voters know what you had to go through or even what you were thinking? Nope. Even the "pros" may vote similarly to the uneducated rank & file.

I wish folks would stop bickering over the meanings of challenges and then complain when their shot scores low which they then blame on trolls or voters who have no idea what is going on. I mean, c'mon, is ~5%(I'm talking 1,2,3's) of the vote really going to skew your score that much from the overall total? If those same people vote identically across the board, then everyone is going to be even-steven at the end.

Quite the opposite, Seeing you have versed yourself so strongly, The Road Less Traveled is about life or it was when I was growing up.
If it was required for this challenge to go out and photograph a road the challenge would have simply been called Roads as an extra meaning had been added in the description, as photographers in this art form we were asked to be creative in the challenge and include this meaning, and it was kept to basic editing.
But as I said this is my perspective and we are all entitled to an opinion.

"...asked to be creative and include this meaning..." What the heck does that mean?

People sure are bent about this challenge. Read whatever you want into it, but don't try to force YOUR interpretation on everyone else. This challenge should be left to individual vision - nowhere does it say ANYTHING about a poet, nor does it specifically mention some lonely road.

The challenge is simply listed as follows.

Challenge Title (and) Description: The road less traveled.

I'm trying to keep an open mind to many interpretations as I vote on this challenge. Kind of tough to do (stay open-minded) if one reads all of the spewing that is going on here. Geeessshh!

This being my first time making an entry, I have to say that thus far I am discouraged. Not because of my score, but because of the score coupled with a lack of comments that address why.

My feeling is that people are not appreciating my creative interpretation - actually, I am sure of it based on the other poster's sentiments about this being "Literal DP Challenge."

Should I give up on metaphors?

I did not participate in this challenge, but in another one (my first ever). I have similar feelings. But I guess people are too busy saving their own scores somehow, newbies will be left over to become like them after a few more such challenges. Nobody (or very few) like to comment, yet everybody wants comments. How is that possible? I made sure that I comment on at least 3 and below scores that I put.

I am also rating this challenge, although I didnt submit here.

Hopefully you got a good score from me. Good luck:-)
