whoa. Some really amazing images in here. I already faved one. LOVE this challenge!!!
i'm only getting a 5.667, but i'm in love with a LOT of the photos. I can see a few more faves I will be making sooooon! |

| 4.75, heading for a personal worst. Whatevs, didn't have time to put a lot of thought into this one, and I'm rightly getting hammered for it. |

Well, I got exactly that. 5.7+ down to 5.1+ in one vote! Excellent. Interesting though, isn't it when there are such extremes. |

I'm sitting at a 5.000 even after 8 votes. After 4 votes, I was a 3.33.

Wishful thinking aside, next two votes averaged 5... so I'm down to a 5.5. Was hoping the first two were gonna be the norm, but alas, not to be.
EDIT: POOF #7 was a 5 as well. 5.4286. ARGH!!!! For that score, I wish I'd entered one of the cooler, riskier shots.

And now you've found my reasoning for my entry. I had about four versions at the end. Two had less of a defect I knew people would ding me for, and one had less of a different defect, but I entered the one with both defects because I liked it best. I figured if I miss my average and drop out of the side tourney, I'd rather do it with a shot I liked a lot.

meh. I have no expectations for this challenge anyways. I just wanted to have fun shooting it. I think I shot about 24-25 frames that could have been used for this challenge and every single one of them would get a different score from every person who looked at it. Abstract art is hard to critique for some people.

Similar situation here. I had three safe shots and the one I entered was different. And like you said if it puts me out of the tourney then at least I went out with a shot I liked. BTW my last 5 votes have all been 5's...Oh well! |

By the way, how do you know the individual votes like 4 3 2 4 5 that some guys post? Do I need to be a provileged member to access that information?

Members get an Update button (addictive) that will reflect the updated score. I think registered users only get updates on the hour.
Then it's just simple math.
((Current Votes * Current Score) - (Prior Votes * Prior Score))
--------------------------------------------------------------- = Vote or Avg Votes Received
(Current Votes - Prior Votes))

Welcome to DPC! It's a great community.
If you pay the $25 fee to become a member, one benefit is that you get a button you can click to update your score as much as you want. Be warned that it's highly addictive, though!
By watching each vote that comes in and doing a little math, you can figure out what that vote is.
