I must say I would agree with you on that one, there are some fantastic shots. Defientely a treat to see some real clean open challenge shots.

I agree! The open challenge submissions have gone up IMHO while member challenge submissions have been a bit on the low side. Are the tides changing?

I wasnt expecting so many great shots what with all the predictions but I was pleasantly surprised.

BTW, I just got a '1' from somebody. Thanks dude! Curses!

Rooster, I am glad you are on this site, your posts always out a smile on my face and you have a way of making me chuckle, not to mention that I think your photography is absolutely astounding! ;)

If you say so....just tell us which one it is so we can score accordingly ;o)

I wasn't gonna enter this one, but an unusual wheel presented itself today & I got it in just under the wire. Wheel see how it goes.

mine sucks more!

I'm cursing myself for taking a photo at 11:45. Why do I feel the need to enter every challenge? I was on the best run of my DPC career with 6 photos above 6 in a row. I hope this one is in the 5's...it's at 3.9 after 16 votes. It may be my worst scoring shot ever.

On a lighter note, I agree that there appear to be some great wheels to look at this week. Good work everyone.

Not mine though!!!! DP voters are a fickle bunch!!!! Oh well I enjoyed the day out to the place where I took it and I think it's a nice pic.

I am working my way throught the wheels challenge. I see two recurring flaws - small pics (5 or 6 small ones so far) and several outdoor shots with the sun / light on the back of the subject or otherwise angled to leave the main subject in darkness / shadow.

Lots of bike wheels, more train wheels than i thought there might be, and the car wheel entries are many and better than expected. Overall pretty good! Hard to choose any 9s or 10s so far..but then not many 1,2 or 3s either.

Does that mean things are improving or mediocrity rules?

Mine stinks too... I knew it would when I submitted it. I really should stop submitting pictures that I'm not completely happy with.

I also need to resist the urge to submit, ...and concentrate instead on taking the necessary time to do produce my best effort. Where I've take the time, my photos are averaging over 6. When I rush, they're hovering around 5, or even less.

My Wheels submission is sitting at 6.6. I'm happy.

i am satisfied with mine. well, ok, a 9+ average would be more satisfying, but i am a tad over 5. Not particularly original, i think imanaged to skip the technical flaws this time (always a bonus), but i just couldn't get the 'feel' or 'mood' i had in my mind's eye. I am pleased with my sharpenging and got to experiment a bit with my new lights.

If i can be consistent (evenly consistenly average at this point) then I can move on from there. Last challenge i finished with 5.3. So far i am at 5.1, and that will no doubt drop to 4.9 or so ( i hope not, but am expecting it).

I'd love to have great ideas, and a times i do (but cannot shoot them for one reason or another). Unfortunately, i think for as long as possible and then shoot on the last day...if i shoot sooner I have a great idea the last day anyway so i either reshoot or regret.

good luck to all.

Chris,

I am a member and I still don't see votes until after voteing is over. Only can see a running aggregate score.

Oy, I wish taking time with concept and/or execution had a strong correlation with score for me =)

It's funny, I get this idea in my head, puzzle on how to make it work, then work myself up until I get all spiritual and philosophical about it. And after taking the shots, as I'm tightening up contrast and sharpness, and testing cropping, I'm thinking 'oh yeahhhhh, THAT's it...THIS is the ONE!'

But sometimes it's just manic tunnel vision I tellya.

Because then the scores start coming in, or heaven forbid, the client walks in with a confused frown on their face and the thick haze of mediocrity starts wafting around. :: shudder ::

There are some real beauties in this challenge. My shot ain't pulling the strings I thought it would (tunnel vision), so now my goal is to start sleuthing to try and figure out what did and didn't work for people.

That is all I can see. If you see the number of votes incress by
one then you can tell what that last vote was based on the change in the
average score.
