Doesn't it seem awfully soon for the 50D?

Looks fairly certain it will be released next week (26th) and is 6 months early due to pressure from competitors.

Not that I could afford it at the moment, but when, oh, when will we see the new 5D!?!

Check out the sample pics, the one of the rally car is really nice (considering it's iso 1600). Looked at the exif in Photoshop, camera model is "Canon EOS 50D". Pretty cool!

One flaw (probably more) with the picture of the back of the camera. The switch for on/off actually has three positions. It's missing the third which activates the wheel on the back.

Looks very close to the back of my 20D as far as the switch goes.

I do not care about the 50D or whatever Canon decides to soup up in the 1.6 cropped sensors. I am awaiting the new 5Dii or replacement of the current 5D.... which I will buy after a few months of it getting sorted out, tested and became photoshop/lightroom ready.

What do you want in a camera anyways? Are you sure the 5Dii will be any better?

Interestingly the link above now takes you to a notice that says the site is password protected

"The server www.canon.icp.dog-cr.jp at protected area requires a username and password."

Never mind - 26th is supposed to be the release date - only a couple of days now :- )

And this time next month should see the 5D replacement :- )

Hmmm . . choices . . choices . .

I second docpjv, currently I have the 20D, as sooner or latter in the future we all going to move to full frame, it is better to start now and collect lenses latter, most of my lenses wouldn't fit a full frame which is stopping me from getting any new lenses at the moment. Luckily I managed to sell my old lenses and keeping only one at the moment.

Only a year of gap between the 40D and 50D cameras. That seems to be too short! The improvements are rather small (bigger sensor of 15 MP, noise quality -> probably very similar to 40D, and better quality LCD screen). Not much new to offer IMO

Well, to those of us who did not upgrade to the 40D...it's a significant upgrade from the 30D.
I'm really looking forward to getting my 50D as soon as it is released. I have pre-ordered and pre-paid.

Look on the bright side - you will have your 60D before those who buy the 50D :- )

And it will have even more . . things . . probably.

I might give in and upgrade from the 20D, but not until the initial price drop.
