Only 10 minutes have gone by. ;o)

Worried about what?

You want to take a picture of water with flash?

You dropped the flash in water?

Water splashed on the flash?

What do you need help with?

Can't say for sure. Best bet is to try to let it dry out for a few days outside or something. Hope it works out for ya.

Remove the batteries as soon as you can (if you didn't already). Dry everything off as best as you can. Leave the battery compartment open and let it dry out. Then use some of those silica gel packs that come with shoes and purses and put them in a bag with the flash unit to absorb the moisture. That should work.

Don't try to turn it on until it's all dried out.

ok

And wait longer than you think - it may appear dry but it can take quite a while for it to all evaporate.

Hard to tell, but I'd recommend at least a few days. If you're adventurous, take it apart and then you'll know for sure.

Edit: If you take it apart time would be reduced by quite a bit.

Most likely if you already turned it back on and it does nothing. It probably wont ever do something, at least not without seeing a technician. Those little things are pretty sensitive to water getting in places they shouldnt be, especially since it was already on. Having tried it since then, turning it back on and asking it to charge would only further complicate things. If it wasnt broke before, it likely is now. Find you a nice box and some bubble wrap and send it off to the manu. factory service center for repair.

If you are confident that you can put it back together, I'd take it apart. By "apart" I mean opening it completely up to let everything dry out.

I'm curious, how does a flash fall into water if its attached to the camera properly? Yeah it sucks that its a week old, maybe send it to canon(after making sure its really, really dry) with a note saying it doesnt work anymore, With a copy of your reciept. Maybe they wont notice its been in water, or do a good faith repair.

i have a sync cord so i can move the flas around. unfortunatly i dont have three arms so i set the flash on a sugar container aimed over the top of a dish of water. when i was giggling my camera around the flash took a dive.

It's hard to tell if the damage has been done, but taking it apart will dry out the insides faster. If you're unsure about getting it apart and back together I'd take Matt's advice and send it in.

I want to giggle my camera around some time : )

It's a bummer about the flash. I dropped my blackberry in the sink, so I quickly pulled the battery out. I then dunked it with alcohol and dried it with a towel. Next, I used a vacuum cleaner on the open battery compartment for a minute. Next I put it in a toaster oven on the lowest setting for a couple of hours and the vacuum again. After about 4 hours it had no more fog form in the display when it cooled down so I knew it was dry. It has been ok since then, which was about a year ago.
A flash unit generates very high voltage, and the slightest bit of moisture could carry that voltage to the sensitive parts of the circuitry. If you didn't get it turned off in time, it is likely to be fried inside.
I lost one of my most useful lenses, an 18-70 nikkor over a waterfall last month. I feel a little careless, but no one was hurt, and I have another on the way now.

I have heard that it will dry out faster if you put it in rice.
