Ya, mostly unrelated to photography. But now I can check the forum and update DPC scores anywhere! The new phone has a full html browser and is pretty cool overall. Tons of features and good for mobile photo viewing.

I upgraded to the LG Dare. It just arrived this evening! Seems like one of the best touch screen phones out, beside the iPhone. AT&T coverage stinks around here, so Verizon is pretty much the only choice for the best coverage.

Sweet! Not to steal your thread or anything but do you (or anyone else) have recommendations on what phone to get for an ATT customer? I don't want the iPhone because of the required data package that I don't need and can't afford. If there wasn't a required package I'd have one already. :) I don't plan on doing any internet on my phone at all and currently have a RAZR V3 that I love but is about to kick the bucket.

Sweet phone ! I got my Motorola Q about 2 weeks ago mostly so i could surf DPC at work!

I have had the Q since January. I LOVE It! I went up from the 2005 RAZR. I really wanted to stay with Motorola, but also wanted the full keyboard of the Curve. I walked in planning to buy a Curve.

What do I use most?
1- the appointment calendar first, and there is a shortcut key for it so I love that function.
2- the alarm clock
3- speakerphone...also a shortcut key.
4- Bubblepop...is the installed game. I love it, the kids love it!
5- I love that you have a choice between a regular battery and an extended life battery AND both come with the phone. I use the regular battery and probably charge about 1-2x per week. I am not a heavy talker though.
6- Text messaging. I use less than 200 messages per month, so I have the $5 add on for that, but no internet here either. It is there if I need it, but that is pretty rare. I haven't used it in several months.

There is only one thing I don't care for, but I have gotten used to it and that is two hand typing for numbers and special characters in appointments and text messages.

The Q looks very much like the Blackberry Curve in design. I was in AT&T tech support at the time, so I defenitely wanted one of the two. I chose the more expensive Q once I picked it up and held it. I k new it was the phone for me. The keypad feels more ergonomic to me. The keys are slightly more raised than the Curve. The home screen of the Q also felt more user friendly to me. I honestly think you are going to have to check them both out.

If you just want a simple phone like your RAZR (which also kept appointments), but you want to make good use of the calendar then get something with a full size keyboard for sure. You won't regret it. If you are more interested in just having something to take music along, the Q will suffice there too. I don't use it for music at all, but you will NEED the micro SD card if you do. There are other siblings to the RAZR that make good music phones. As far as reception and my experience with troubleshooting service problems was that Morotola's rarely had reception issues. I realize not many people own them, but I only had 1 call in 5 months on the Q for troubleshooting. My personal experience (perception if you want to call it that) is that LG's and Samsungs have pretty low reception. Nokia's and Motorola's are on the higher end of the specturm along with Blackberries.

I have been out of the loop for 3 months now since quitting my job in May. No doubt there have been more things released since then, so take my info for what it's worth to you. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice on the Q! Any opinions on the AT&T (HTC) Tilt?

Ironically enough, I just got the same phone last night (and since we're both in Pittsburgh, I can mention that I got it at the newly-moved Verizon store in Cranberry). And of course the first thing I did with the browser was to go to DPC :)

I will caution that some folks have had problems with the browser crashing. I know this because I was playing with it last night, and clicking the browser icon would simply reset/reboot the phone! So I did some Googling and found some other people having the same issue. I had to restore the phone's defaults to get the browser to work again. Hopefully this won't be a recurring problem, and hopefully they'll issue a software upgrade to fix the problem.

Otherwise, seems like a pretty slick phone. The camera isn't exactly a D300, but it sure is a nice step up from the piece of crap in my old phone!

I think the biggest problem with the Tilt was lack of consumer knowledge on how to use it. It isn't the most user friendly thing, but again, once you get used to it, most people love it. I can't say it has too many problems. The #1 call I got was how do I do my email, or I can't send text messages. Just about every problem I ever encountered was with the settings in the phone and all issues has resolutions available online with AT&T's device tutorials. If you are techno friendly, then you will get along with the phone.

Thanks! That helps a lot.

Lol, can't believe that you got the same phone too! My "new every two" was just up and I had been playing with a friend's iphone at a wedding the previous weekend and got hooked. The Dare is the closest thing verizon has to the iphone.

Yea, I read about the crashing browser problems as well, luckily I haven't had any issues with mine yet. I just got the lcd protectors and the black silicone case for it as well.

Likewise, I was very impressed with the camera for being a crappy cell phone camera. The high fps video is fun to play around with too.
