Hoping to see some pictures from some of the new camera owners that have just upgraded to decide on a new camera. Anybody?

Edit: How is it compared to your previous camera? Any new features that you absolutely love on your new camera?

Mine are all blurry, underexposed, and in a near-panoramic format. :-(

I'm a new owner of an f717 got it exactly 1 week old today, already took 1000+ pics with it but It's really hard to decide wich to post here. Ofcourse those on full auto are great, those on full manual are, verry abstract, maybe i'm still searching for something good I took on manual, so this is a bookmark in case I find something :)

Every night, when I bring my baby her nighttime milk, she produces the most wonderful smile. I thought that I'd like to photograph that smile. So, I set up the camera, wb, dof, etc before milk time. Here's what actually happened.

Man, she is cute!
I just took a look at my shots & I can;t believe how much better they look from the 5050. Granted it has more pixels but holy crap the quality looks to good. Can't wait to get out there 2morrow and take some serious shots!

I had the exact same problem when I went to a d60
I went from all in one with stabalizer to d60 and they weren't as sharp, where underexposed ..didn't have the panoramic problem and maybe this was a joke post not sure, but i just set the settings to be sharper, shot at higher shutter speeds and got an i/s lens which i really don't use that feature much now. I also use light meter a tad, but mainly just over expose by 1/2 stop to 1 stop and turns out fine. keep working with it I believe the 10d is a derrivative of the d60

I got my 10D on March 10th and submitted the following for Parallel and Orange. My entry for Orange is my top scorer to date.

Parallel: 28-135mm IS USM @ 135
Orange: 28-135mm IS USM @ 53

PS. The Parallel entry was taken the first weekend I had my camera.

edit: added lens particulars

I just upgraded to my new camera about 2 weeks ago... I LOVE it!!!
The 12*zoom is just incredible, the Leica lens is razor sharp. It feels great, looks great. The image stabilising is amazing, 2 days ago I got a razor sharp picture with a 1 second exposure without leaning or resting the camera on anything. My March Free Study picture is on 7.32, which I feel is more a reflection of how good my new camera is, rather than my skill in taking that particular shot. I could go on and on about it, I am amazed that more people don't buy this camera. A few months ago, I was on the forums here debating whether to buy a Rebel, and I think that unless you have VERY pressing reasons to get one (ie, you need pictures that are going to be published in print, etc.) most people are far better off with a camera like mine. Now I have an all-purpose camera (35mm-440mm lens) which lets me use it in low light due to the Image Stabilising with extremely high quality, I now feel that in the future I may get a Rebel so I always have another camera handy if I have the wrong lens on my DSLR.

Comparing the f717 to my old p72 well I like that I have almost everything manual on this tho I'm far from having anything under control. I like how it looks and how I feel it in my hands. Better quality on 5mp, way better macros and zoom, a bit more lense reflections (need to buy a lens hood). P72 had a cool feature tht I can't seem to find on this one, it had that setting that when you point tha little cross to a subject and there is hard light behind it, it adjusted everything so I had a good detail of the subject regardless of the light behind. Remember I only have the cam a week so it probably has it but I don't know how to get it. Superbe viewfinder and a bigger LCD, verry well positioned controlls, a bit high noise on ISO's higher then 100 and in poor light but I had this on p72 too about the same amount of noise on both. That's all it cames in my mind for now.

Got my 10D in February. I am very pleased with my purchase. Good luck with your search. Here are a few samples from my new toy:

Minor color and sharpening adjustments:

Sharpening only:

Edit: My previous camera was a P&S; a Nikon Coolpix 775. I was happy with what that camera could do considering it's limited features and 2.1mpx.

Methinks the Bobster doth protest too much. Two blues and a red with his old camera says he already knew how to take pictures. I remember that you've been eyeballing that FZ-10 for quite some time. Glad you finally got one and am looking forward to seeing some images.

Thanks, but when you see the picture, you'll know what I mean. It's the shot that any tourist would take when confronted with this view... it's the sheer clarity and colour reproduction that makes this photo have such impact.

I think you mean spot metering? Yes, the F717 has one too. Lens barrel side look for the button with an icon of a rectangle and a dot in the center.

all of the photos on my website (in the footer) were taken with the D70.

i've had it for 2 weeks + 2 days and I'm already up to 1500 shots. probably more, actually, b/c i didn't set the image name counter to continuous until about day 3. :D

A couple pic’s from my new 828. I decided I wasn’t up for buying a ton of lenses for a DSLR so I went with what I knew, Sony. And I’m having a great time with it.

Went from Olympus 5050z to the Canon Rebel. I love being able to focus looking through the viewfinder instead of the lcd on the back.
Took these yesterday.

I just upgraded from an Olympus D-565 and Nikon 995 to a Sony DSC-V1. No comparison, really. The Olympus was a point-n-shoot and the Nikon was a 3mp camera. The V1 is similar to the 995 in the sense that they both have great lenses and have full manual control. I've only had the V1 for 2 days, but I love it. Here is on of my first photos with the camera.
