OK Ken I told you I would show some of my first baby shoot photos. This was a big lesson learner for me as well. Its great to do things like this for the first time. You learn so much by making your own mistakes(I'm not saying you did, but I sure did) because you know what NOT to do the next time.

Yikes... I totally missed that. About the only way to properly handle that situation is with a light meter. Thanks for the catch.

I know many people say the strobist way to go, however IMHO there is nothing like having the big time control and consistancy of a set of AB's.

Shooting with ABs (or any other non-AA powered strobe) is still Strobist-compatible, so long as the flash is off-camera.

Hey those turned out very good overall, Matt. But your subject wasn't running around. ;-) The important thing is that you captured her ten little fingers and eleven... wait- what the...?

Yeah, I added a comment on their with yours. I'm not a magician and I am not a photoshop guru. She really did have 11 toes. However its my understanding that she is now back to 10. ALthough I havent seen her since. Her parents wanted the photos to be able to show her when she got older.

Matt

And you are right, my subject wasnt running around. I made sure my first visit into baby world had a few things going for me. One was a subject that didnt move too much. :D I have done some older kids, however I dont have releases on them to post them, I do on this one as it was a TTCD setup.

UPDATE: Well Mom picked up the CD and I printed out a contact sheet and some small samples for her. I also threw an Animoto video together for her. She was thrilled with the pics! Said she really loved them and wanted me to do some family portraits. Here's the finals.

So, not a highly profitable venture, but a great learning experience for me. And fun. I really enjoy toddlers.

My final thanks to all who contributed advice and suggestions.
