Which airline? Air Canada allows 22lbs each for two carryon bags. The limit that usually matters is the bag size.

ETA:Looks like Iceland Air has these restrictions regardless of departure point (or partner airline used). Makes you not want to bring those heavy lenses. The 100-400 may have to stay home. The backpack is around 20lbs with the gear I normally travel with.

I just played with round trip airfare from Austin to Reykjavik and it was only 800.00 - 1100.00 That isn't cheap, but I was expecting tons more. I may need someone to meet me and fly from Boston or Minneapolis (there is a direct flight) there, any takers? hee hee

(bustling around to get passport papers started)

I would love to go.. need to do all of the above myself.. Judy maybe we could fly out togetha???

Sh*t!! If there was ever a reason to get a passport, this is one. I better start now - I hear it's taking longer and longer. I hate flying by myself though. I need to find someone to accompany on the flight there. HOW FUN

judy, i'll stop by and pick you up.. ;-)

Lesley, you'll have to fly right over me to get to Judy...stop by and get me on the way and we'll all go together! :-)

Pencil me in for the GTG. Iceland has long been on my top 10 places to visit and I'd much rather visit with the DPC gang! Now, like Ivo, if I can start selling my blood and an internal organ or two, I might be able to afford the trip by next year! ;-)

Gosh, I only wish I were ten years younger, as I definitely be coming, as it has always been my dream to go to Iceland, but I think I left it to late. Also it would cost a lot from here in Australia to Iceland. I will just dream about it and look forward to all the photos.

I'd love to be involved in this.
Let me know when the planning gets serious, I'll see if I'm free or can get me free

I'm interested. What I need to know is more or less how much this will cost ... yeah, money counts.
But I'm surely interested, those landscapes are GREAT!
And I'd love to see you all again!

So let us now when things are shaping up, so I can arrange my budget

I'm greatly interested in the project. Depending on the dates, the cost, and the time frame, i'm there..

When will planing get serious?

Watching this with great interest. There is still enough time to plan and hopefully purchase! Hopefully I'm not out of my league here...

Have we narrowed down dates yet? It would be nice to know as far ahead as possible in order to work out time off from work, etc.

Yes, it would be good to know... I have a highschool class reunion in mid-June, and if the Iceland dates are early enough in July, I can combine both events.

Also need to get a passport!!

Oooo, hope im not too late to the party :-) I would love to go to iceland for the gtg, and think the dates may work out great with my school schedule. Count me in!

Will Iceland still be there come July? The news we are getting over on our side of the pond looks pretty bleak for Iceland. Worse banking crisis than the US they are reporting.

Hope things are not as bad as it all sounds up there.
