>> But shall we also say that if ever that did happen then entering a picture that was a close copy of another cheats everyone else that enters the competition. As does ignoring the rules about artwork that applies to entries on this site (but not where the first picture appeared).

If you had the grace to research around the site a bit more you'd find that this is a long-running discussion here re. a couple of ther types of shot.

>>Now if anyone wants to ask me anything then email but please put your brain in gear first. Thanks.

This goes beyond the pale I'm afraid. Is there a council person here who could muzzle this fool?

Do coincidences like this happen often or am I being naive?

OK, this is 2 different photo and taken from 2 different angle. So it is a famous place. And ........... Check the windows above first telephone booth

As has been pointed out ad nauseum... the booths are an interesting subject to shoot and there are plenty of members within the area. There are many well-known sculptures in my area that aren't listed as landmarks or points of interest in tourist guides.

Just because no one has posted a picture so similar to yours doesn't mean they don't exist (a shot taken by RedMoon springs to mind- you may have seen it already). I'm sure literally hundreds (if not thousands) of people have walked past that spot and snapped a picture from the same obvious angle. Had you taken the shot lying on the ground or from a rooftop, then maybe I'd raise an eyebrow.

Most importantly... so what? RedMoon already noted that he hadn't seen the photo online and shot the photo during the week of the Challenge. If I thought that the Washington Monument or Statue of Liberty would make a good enrty, then I'd go right out and shoot it... and chances are someone would have taken a shot of each of those from the same angle (unless I was more creative with my approach) and posted it somewhere online within two weeks. It's a coincidence. It happens. Get over it.

I concur that a straight shot of a sculpture like this should be DQ'd (and RedMoon seems to agree), but that's sometimes tough to judge and I don't think it was an issue in your original post.

you know, at this point i really want to question you about what it is you're trying to achieve? you have re-iterated your argument, ad nauseam and you do not seem willing to budge an inch on your stance except to admit above that there is a possibility of coincidence. i'd like to add that your debate tactics have included an element of rudeness that is really very unneccessary. this is a friendly competition amateur website and, correct me if i'm wrong, but i think most people are here for fun and to learn through practice about their hobby. there is no need to take such a hostile tone. or does the fact that you don't enter your photos here mean that you're above such common practices of courtesy? and no, i don't mean the above quote, but your tone in general throughout this whole debate, or should i say debacle.

so what is everyone supposed to do now? run an intensive internet search on the subject of their photographs each week just to make sure that no one else anywhere in the world has taken a similar shot? or should they just check on that fuji website you keep harping on about to make sure you didn't take a similar shot for fear of offending you?

as this wasn't a part of your original argument it seems to me you're just reaching now for more points that others have brought up, which has been resolved by an organiser of the site no less, in order to beat your argument to death. Redmoon's mistake with regards to the rules concerning this matter has been acknowledged (and quite politely, i might add) by Redmoon himself. again i ask, what more do you want? will you not be happy until Redmoon removes his photo altogether, not because anyone else has asked him to, but because you, who does not even enter competitions here, want him to?

Hi chinstap,

Would you like some technical advice here?

If you don't want to read this thread don't click on the link and don't post to it. Would you like me to repeat that for you?

And what qualifies the likes of you to lecture others on good grace exactly? You're both presumptuous and a little sanctimonious my friend.

So you'd prefer it that several people make statements that are pure nonsense such as that these boxes have been there since 1924 but prevent any reply. That figures.

At least you're honest enough not to pretend to champion free speach. Well done.

Yeah, but seeing some sanctimonious people here stamping their foot like big girl is fairly entertaining. Justine.

Come on, not really beating, just poking gently with a little stick. :)

They must enjoy it or they wouldn't be here would they. Or are you saying they can't help themselves?

I have an idea. Why don't you move along? You've said yourself you don't intend to submit here. You've made your point, and redmoon has responded, indicating you're wrong. What we have is a he-said, he-said, that canont get resolved.

Finish this, and move on. Please.

Since this is not longer (if it ever was) a "Photography Discussion" but has now descended into "personalities" I'm moving this thread to the Rant forum.

I suggest to all re-read the site TOS regarding defamatory and abusive language before you write something you'll regret.

Certainly not Janet but I haven't noticed much courtesy around here and I'll reply to people in their own terms. People stamping their feet doesn't impress me at all.

Originally posted by redjanet:

Yes, and I had no idea of the rules here but it does surprise me that those exist but are ignored. Doesn't seem too fair on those that obey them to me.

Originally posted by redjanet:

I'm quite happy now Janet. Are you and others asking these questions because you want me to answer them or are you asking them but prefer that they remain answered? That's confusing.

Please read the advice given above to Chinstrap Welsher. It really does work if you've got the will-power.

Now that this has been moved to the "Rant" forum (where, given your histrionics, it belongs) I can ignore it in my preferences. For that, I am thankful.

I must ask, though, what your further motivations here are? You've made your point. Folks don't like you to keep belaboring it. You're wearing out your welcome. Is it your intention to just annoy people now?

As I said, if your intentions for the rest of your stay consist of going of this tired, implausible point, perhaps now would be a good time to end that stay.

You want to give me technical advice? Err ok, I am always willing to learn. Although I dont know what tecnical advice you are referring to, I hope its photographic though.

What's boggling my mind is flynn's inability to discern the general attitude of this community. Granted, there are *some* neutral people here, but I'm sensing that the overwhelming majority of the posters:

a) Think flynn's argument is implausible
b) Think flynn's being impolite
c) Think flynn's going on for no reason

Maybe I'm just stamping my feet.
