Hey all! Quick question...
A local coffee shop emailed me, and are interested in hanging some of my work in their store. My question is about pricing. I've never been approached by a business that wanted to hang my work, so I'm not sure what the norm is as far as pricing goes. Do I hang them there for free and make money if they sell, or do I have the coffee shop owner just buy them out right as if they were for personal use? Help guys!! I don't want to come off as unprofessional when I meet with them in person.

Thanks in advance!

A common approach is that the coffee house takes a small percentage of sales. It's like selling on consignment, they provide the space, and in return get a small portion of proceeds.

When I show my stuff, it's usually what kirbic said.

I hang, label and price. The price is gauged according to what the owner of the space will charge as a percentage. I've paid as little as 10% and as much as 40%. Make sure you establish the parameters before you hang your work - how much, how long, etc.

Good luck!!

Yep, what everyone else said -
and congratulations on being asked to hang your work.
usually we have to go out and find places that would accept our work!
